Curacao and copyrights (WTO)

Do I understand this correctly? If the WTO rules that the USA has not comlied with the ruling Curaco obtained against the USA in regards to unfair gambling practices and the Internet, one of the possible penalties is the loss of copyright protections. Does this mean, if it goes through, that somebody could simply set up file sharing in Curaco and share US copyrighted material without any penalties? Assuming you could find billing that is.

I don't know about the "file sharing," but this has had Hollywood / and the recording industry scared. I can't post a link, but I've read so much about this in CardPlayer, Bluff etc over the last year.

From what I gather, is that they will be able to reproduce dvds and cds willy nilly in order to recuperate losses.

Hmmm I am very interested in links about this. So far some things to be aware is is that this has never reached curacou news and I am sure something as big as this would at least have been spoken about on e-commerce businessmeetings. I attend a lot of them.
Another thing is that at this moment Curacou is still part of the "kingdom of the Netherlands" Curacou is embedded in the "Dutch Antilles". This would mean that all rulings for Curacou would at least count for other islands as Bonaire, Saba, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius as well. They might even count for Aruba (independent status within the kingdom of the Netherlands) and....The Netherlands themselves since the Curacou foreign politic is taken care of by the Dutch government.

So far I am inclined to say its gossip.

Uhmmm..... I haven't seen this stuff you just said anywhere else...

I'm sorry, I was apparently more than half asleep last night. I didn't mean Curacao, that was stuck in my head from a long conversation with a dutch girl. I meant Antigua. This is happening between Antigua and the USA via WTO.

mmm interesting angle they took to recover their losses. I hardly think that the US will allow their Copyright/Trademark holders to be subjected to this. Maybe the concession will be that they will open gambling again for the US market and allow fair competition.
