People who fucking OOZE luck out of their ass like a Lucky Charms ******* and then turn around and boast and brag and rub it in everyone's faces how important, smart, perfect and talented they are.

There are people who WORK THEIR FUCKING ASSES OFF and the extra effort by those not blessed with AMAZING luck goes unnoticed.

It's a good thing to be lucky - no one is discounting that but those who benefit should be humble in the face of fortune.

Oh, and another thing, whoever believes "man makes his own luck" - really think about what you're saying there. It's a contradiction in terms and just caters to humanity's false sense of importance.

Generally speaking these are true, but we ALL know that these are not the end al be all of life's equations. These statements blatantly ignore one very important facet of our existence: the details.

These aren't fortune cookie philosophies, they're true. Even the saying, "Fortune favours the bold," implies action on your part.

But sure, sometimes success is a matter of being at the right place at the right time. If it's pure luck that's keeping these people along, just know (or if you're petty, be glad) that lucky streaks can't last forever. :1orglaugh

Also, perhaps a lot of the people they're gloating to are not impressed and are also sick of them. :1orglaugh

harder is definded not just as time in either. harder can be sceen as smarter :2 cents:

Luck = Skill + opputunity

If you dont have the skill, and dont place yourself in a situation where you can get lucky (take risks) you cant expect to have many good things happend to you.

If you dont understand that, you are stupid as well.

there is no such thing as luck, and it grinds my gears when people use lack of luck as an excuse.

Great feedback guys - this topic has always fascinated me and I love to hear peoples' thoughts on it.

I also find it interesting how a lot of threads get personalized by people responding to them. It seems like a lot of people at GFY kind of lie in wait for people to victimize themselves so they can be ridiculed.

Topics often morph from "this is what this person is thinking and feeling at the moment he posted" to "this is who this person is" and people get into a fervor.

GFY is such a strange, dynamic community.

Lucky for me (pun intended) I know who I am and don't feel obligated to explain it away. Therefore I naturally avoid these kind of traps.


Either way, back on topic the point isn't what luck comes from or whether it exists, it's the disgusting habit of some people I know in RL to be pompous and lie to top it off; and how it is irritating.

They are simple snazzy one liners people rip off to summarize a great many things.

I'm guilty of saying them myself. However I do, and have worked hard but... I sum it up in a one liner to get people who want to know the 'secrets' off my back.

*Sometimes* being at the right moment in the right place helps of course, but it really depends on you, everyone is in the right place at the right moment some time but not everyone notices that.
