Even if you hate Michael Moore, you must admit he is right in "Sicko"
The Healthcare industry puts profits ahead of health. Like a business would. As if the only reason that people and companies are in the Healthcare industry at all is to make a profit.
He's hit the nail right on the head. They can't hide it anymore - the bastards are trying to make a fucking buck! |
he is right for sure
|
the sad thing is that people needed this movie to realize it.. I thought this was all common knowledge.
|
No kidding!!

Is the healthcare system in the US bad I would say absolutely, but Moore points the finger again in the wrong direction. He should look at his own fat ass when he wonders why insurance rates are so high. As far as I know according to the interviews and promotions, he doesnt point out the amount of insurance that a doctor has to carry for malpractice lawsuites. The fact the government is sometimes compelled to let people steal from the system. Illegel aliens crowd and bankrupt hospitals. Everyone wants good health care but no one wants to pay for it.
The fat piece of shit tells a one sided story once again. |
No, I don't admit he is right.
Profit isn't bad. The private sector can generally manage things better that the government. When the government get involved, taxes always go up, and quality goes down. I might favor some new legislation though. People have to stop looking to the government to solve all their problems. |
Of course. The main goal of any business is to make a profit. Who wants to just work and have nothing to show for it?

The problem with Moore is credibility. Very few people outside the "left" take him very seriously it seems.
I haven't seen Sicko, but I do recommend The Band Played On about the growth of the AIDS epidemic in the US and a startling - and real - look at the health care industry's initial response. A classic line from the film, though not an exact quote: "When doctors become businessmen, who do we turn to when we are sick?" |
Insurance companies private vs public?
How can you back an industry that through lobbying was able to get most if not all state governments to force you buy law to buy their product...and I'm referring to auto insurance. |

Taxes go up because politicians spend like rappers. They start stupid wars to make their friends rich, give tax breaks to their buddies in the oil industry, and earmark bullshit expenditures because it raises the value of one of their properties or will help someone who donated to their party. Fuck, we just had a representative earmark half a million dollars for a fucking teapot museum in her district. And the private sector can't always manage things better. Companies like Halliburton cost the country billions in overbilling and half ass work. Companies like Blackwater bill out our country $1000/day for mercenaries while our soldiers make $30/day. Private companies like Enron sure didn't manage the retirements of a lot of people too well, now did they? The argument isn't private vs government, it's who is in control and what their motivations are. If you put someone in charge of government programs that wanted to do well, you'd be fine. But we sit around and give government programs to fucksticks who couldn't cut it in the private sector like the shithead who ran FEMA. |

But if you think it's bad now, wait until you get it for free from the government. |
