Payment processor/billing issue???

Does anyone have an issue with there payment processor? If so, what are they?

Secondly, do you feel your payment processor is too quick to return funds to the customer? And if so, how many charge backs do you experience per week or per month?

I use CCBill. It's costs some money but I have no complaints. Good tech support. CCBill rarely gets chance to refund my customers, because I generally give customers refunds myself. I prefer customers to contact me. It's good business.

Do not use PayPal for adult content. They will fuck you over if they realize you're selling adult material with their system. They don't do adult stuff.

I'm a mid-size site. I have had four charge backs this year. I get more returned online checks than charge backs. A "check" in this sense is when people allow you to debit their checking account. I'm thinking about not letting people pay with online checks anymore.

CCBill takes 14.5% every week in fees. Plus they hold back an extra 5% that they then give back to you in 6 months. So after six months, every week you get 5% back that they took out 6 months ago. They hold the extra 5% in case your site shuts down, and they have to refund all your current customers.

Regarding PayPal, by "fuck you over" I just mean they'll stop you from processing when they find out and then send you some e-mails. They don't do anything bad. They'll just be a pain in the ass to you because you've been a pain in the ass to them. Fair is fair.

Whatever credit card processor you choose, try to treat your customers right. List your e-mail address in your member area. Respond promptly to e-mails. If someone's pissed, refund they're money. If someone has a good suggestion, try to implement it. Update regularly. Tell them when you're next post is going to be, what you're planning next, that sort of thing.

That's my story. I'm sticking with it :-)

I was thinking of the same thing a few years back, but I worked the numbers and talked to various processors about it. Returned checks have no effect on your CB % or ratio. So even though I had a high % of returns on the checks, about 60% were still real. I decided to let them roll on in, affiliates are deducted credit for when the check is returned, so it's not like I'm out anything extra.

There are some services I had though of looking into that will (for a % of what is recovered) go after charge backs and returned checks. However, I really have to wonder if the returned checks are real surfers matched with an account or if they are someone just typing in numbers.

Now that's my story :)
