why is that shocking? it's the name of the famous bar/restaurant/club/shopping district of a major American city. If he's local I'm surprised he didn't develop it - i think it's worth more than 250K.

So dollars is worth 650k and a local district name more than 250k?

Dead on, Mutt. Actually, if you knew what was going on right now in Buckhead you would realize that it was a GREAT buy at only $250k.

Some interesting reading....

All of the Buckhead clubs are now closed...but in a few years Buckhead will be known for alot more than some dive bars and a shooting or two!! ;)

GTS Mark 07-11-2007 11:37 AM

Wow congrats to Rick, I would have thought Dollar rental car would have been the logical company to buy this domain or a financial institution...

I think $650,000 is a bit low to be honest, but as long as the seller is happy who cares :)

Correct. Guess who owns www.dolares.com? That would be me. Anyone want to buy pesos.com? I have that too.

Not a bad ROI ;)

Did you end up doing anything with the dollars.com backend (the software) or did you write it off?

Excellent question. In fact we have something that can benifit you. Check www.madisonavenue.com (I like that domain too).

I figured it to be a million dollar name as well. It's all about perception and how long you are willing to wait to sell.

I have almost 3000 names. I believe my names are worth several million, at what point others will agree is the question. Rick did not think so as he made me no offers. I personally would not have paid $400k for Iran.com or buckhead.com (buckhead.com unless it is developed is not going to do much I don't think, unless he re-sells it to the city for a million) it's all perception.

I know one thing every name I have ever sold for a decent chunk of cash, I was told I would never get that price and I always got more than they said I would ever get. Now some times I wish I had those names back I would get 2-3 times that now. But that's the way it works sell it or keep it you can't do both. Maybe I should joint venture or lease them?

I'll tell you one thing this selling names based on traffic value alone is coming to a close. The .com market is coming back big. I wrote about this on my website on the front page Cashcows.com about 5 or 6 years ago. About the domain flipping.
