SE question about multiple blogs on the same IP

I'm not all too familiar with SEO, vaguely and learning as I go along. I've read different opinions about multiple domains on the same IP so I thought I'd see if some of the SEO experts around here could give me some advice or input on this. I'm not talking about dupe content, or the same blog with a different domain, I'm talking in terms of:

www.usedcars.com (blog 1)
www.medicaladvice.com (blog 2)

These above are just examples of the difference in content/context, I don't own, endorse, or have any relation to them. So if both of the above were on IP 192.168.1.2 for example, would that hurt in terms of ranking?

Thanks in advance,

JM

darksoul,

Thanks. I've seen 50/50 yes and no from all over. Appreciate the input.

it's weird because at one time I had about 3 blogs (same niche) on the same virtual hosting on the same IP and they all had great rankings and were all pr3...

Boobs,

I'll give it a shot I guess and hopefully it won't have a negative effect. :) Wanna trade some links? Hit me up on icq, 251095197.

All this different class C stuff, unique IP for every site, etc. has it valid points, it can have certain advantages, especially when interlinking you own sites strongly...but it doesn't mean that all on the same IP has a negative effect.

Stark,

Yeah, that's kind of the general opinion I came to find in various forums, links, etc. I don't interlink really, aside from a few outbounds from my TGPs to the blogs, but never blog <-> blog. I was just afraid of getting a negative rank or it having a negative impact if I put like 3-4 blogs on 1 IP. Another thing people have been cramming in my ear is "don't get sandboxed". I've seen this term used so loosely in different context that I'm starting to wonder what the "real" definition of being sandboxed is, and what would cause it to happen to me or anyone. Thanks for your input. :)
