K, I finally saw Transformers

Oooo it was pretty darned awesome!

The good:
- The CG was in-fricken-credible! The textures and motions were amazing! To see the dust build up on Prime's windshields while they were in the desert... wow!
- Hot actors/actresses
- Pretty true-to-the-show storyline.
- Original Optimus Prime voice!! Ah, memories...
- Funny comic relief in the parents' characters
- I love how the movie ends with the shot from the beginning of a few of the shows (idyllic gathering of friends overlooking the plains)

The not so great:
- The heroine wore huge fake eyelashes in every scene except one, when they were portraying her as a tomboyish, earnest girl
- GM must be making a shitload of money, non?
- "Nokia is pretty bad ass"
- I miss Bumblebee the Bug :(
- Starscream had an extremely small part and didn't have the trademark voice at all (BUT he survived for a sequel, so he has another shot)
- There was no character development or progression
- The CGI was often rendered so fast that you really can't tell what's going on until the camera pans out for a better look. It keeps the intensity up, but got a bit tiring.
- I was ready for the movie to end by the time they unveiled Megatron. Come on Michael Bay, trim that down!

But overall I am happy spending my $10.50 to see it in the theatre. I was thoroughly entertained!

You forgot to include that Megatron transforms into a gun why is he a spaceship?

LiveDose 07-19-2007 09:04 AM

Can't wait to see it... Nice info!

The problems of scale were so problematic that I'm happy they didn't attempt to have Megatron (who stands taller than Starscream) transform into a handgun that Starscream can hold. He does transform into a gun once in the final city fight, which was good enough for me. :)

I agree, I think that detail was well handled.

I'm definitely going to grab the DVD when it comes out. There's bound to be a ton of "making of" and behind the scenes clips on there.

Blame VW. They didn't give the rights for the movie so they had to switch. Props on GM getting it. They were able to unveil the '09 Camero.

One thing about the Transformers universe, nobody ever fully dies. They always find a way to bring them back. So if they do make a sequel, it should be much better since they do not have to do the 'Introductio-style' type movie like this one.

Two sequels are already scheduled.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting. Should I wait to see this at the dollar theater? Or are you saying it's worth the $10?

CaptainHowdy 07-19-2007 11:46 AM

Gotta check it out...

ICEDOG 07-19-2007 11:49 AM

great great movie !!!!!!!!!!

dark1313star 07-19-2007 12:42 PM

pretty good for a kid flick :D

I wasn't into the toys or cartoons so there was no nostalgia value for me, but the CGI were awesome

the script was pretty silly but I guess that was intentional

definitely worth seeing on the big screen... my kid and I went to see it at the drive-in a couple nights ago with 1408... $15 total and I brought snacks for the boy and herb for me :pimp:

I'd say it's worth $10. Just don't get $20 of popcorn :)

Good review.

I actually might get off my ass and go to the theatre for this one.

Interesting you should say that. I thought the army part was pretty well done, and not too HOORAH for my tastes.

J. Falcon 07-19-2007 06:22 PM

shekinah 07-19-2007 06:38 PM
