I finally figured out the purpose of the sound banners
 

It's to increase page views!!

I know the moment that stupid banner loads, I'm hitting refresh to get it the hell off of there. Thus increasing page views + 1.
If everyone does that, page views go way up!

It's sheer genius when you think about it.

In general. But there are other forums like this, but smaller. If You hear same sound 10x a day, would You spend as much time here as normally?

i must have refreshed the D..e banner at least 50 times in last 6 months

see... I've had a few people icq me to agree that they refresh when they see it too. Dunno why they don't just reply.

Anyway, why is no one doing anything about it?? There's complaints every single time there's a banner with sound? Doesn't GFY care enough to say "one of the rules is that your banner can't have sound"?

I got rather tired of randomly hearing ads blasting through my speakers, scaring the piss out of me sometimes lol

LOL! You're a genius! Never thought of that before.

That's an incredibly annoying one. It's too fucking loud and doesn't shut up when you move your mouse away from it (like most do). You scroll your mouse over it by accident and there it goes yelling its bullshit at you. Fucking annoying.

I hear the loud bullshit sound and curse that company.

They are to scare the shit out of you when your speakers are turned up and you forget their are sound banners on the page.

Adblock means I don't see any of them anymore. Haven't seen an ad on here, aside from sigs in over a year.
