NEW webmaster forum..!!!

What would you like to see in an adult webmaster forum to make it better?

I see alot of webmaster forums with less posts/traffic than gfy but much more relevent info than gfy..

The slowness on gfy lately has really been getting to me . Besides an overall speed upgrade , what would you like to see in a future upgrade of gfy or another forum..

A paid forum would bring alot of relief but at the same time bring far less traffic.

What would you like to see in a new forum.. ( features , rules etc )

Speaking of which . a few months ago i did some work on another webmaster forum to add keyword matching text links to posts

example . eveytime a certain word is mentioned on the forum the keyword is linked to a certain sponsor. so lets say you said " hey im looking for a webcam sponsor" the keyword webcam is turned into a link to the forum sponsor for that term. would you rather see this instead of banner ads ? or vice versa ?

All the "cool" features/avatars/etc on "relevant on-topic" webmaster boards has been done to death. They're all boring. I visit GFY everyday because I enjoy the community and atmosphere. That's why there are no other message boards even close to being as big or popular as GFY, because they cant reproduce the community here.

Although I appreciate the 'i'd hit it' threads...I'd like a more direct business forum...people wanting to sling hits, dollars, tricks, contacts, etc...no bs --- let's grease this fucking wheel type of action...here you have to wade through a chunk of ____ to get to that...it IS here, but you know what I'm saying maing...

This board has monster marketshare and action to be had, just needs some tiny tweaks to rock it up a notch imho.

PS: I still love you long time lens & company

There are other boards out there?

:eek7

I'm sure GFY is on top of getting things up to speed.
Its slow at times but I'm sure they have a game plan to speed it up.
They always come through.

A way for a group of trusted members to tag threads that are mostly business-related would be great. Then at a glance you could visit, maybe click the link and it would filter just those topics.

so perhaps an open forum like gfy but "trusted" hand checked members get vote authority to vote threads as "biz " threads?

i.e. i w2as thinking established webmasters with "vote" authority could place a simple .txt file on their domain to ensure they are real webmasters like "gfy.txt"

no fake nicks, no contests would be a start. The no contests would eliminate most of the surfers which would make the posts go down but who cares, quality is much more important then quantity

More business threads, less fluff.

How about banning certain sites from being able to advertise on it ;)

not to plug my own site, which hasn't been launched yet, but how about something with a format like this: www.viraldiscussion.com

It's not a forum, but does allow people to vote. I know it loses it's affect for some people because they like the forum layout, but I was going for more of a resource, get the latest news type site vs a forum site.

not trying to thread jack but perhads a forum that lets you vote like my site but that also is more of a forum layout. Instead of the threads being on top because it was "bumped" a million times, but because it was voted as a great thread.

Sounds interesting. I wouldn't force any changes on the existing community, but a tag or similiar feature that made it easy enough for those interested to get a quick filtered view would be great. If I was just interested in program announcements, domains or content for sale, hosting offers, staffing changes, etc.. I could skim just those quickly. Otherwise, nothing else is affected and all the drama and/or filler topics are still there as usual.

no aggressive banners that make your head hurt.
Mods that control spam, flaming and personal attacks.
