ePass "mulleejennifer" in here please! New drama on the way!?
Hey everyone!
One damn time I broke my own rule not to keep more than $500 in my ePass account, it has actually been a good 1k this time, because I was about to start a new project, needded to pay designers and stuff. And guess what happened - yup, the complete account has been robbed last night. 3 transactions, 2 times $500 and one time $140 to the ePass account "mulleejennifer". I guess that account has actually been robbed aswell or it has been used as a gateway only. So, if you are mulleejennifer, would be cool if you could login to your ePass account and tell me if the money is still in your account (my ePass name is "rusreality") or if your account has been robbed aswell, which is probably the case. I have already left an offline msg in ICQ for Michael and I called ePass (which will probably be really expensive from Europe), so my account is on hold now and they are trying to stop the transactions which are still on "Outstanding", fortunately, so i have high hopes to get it back. I'll keep you updated what happens next... now I need my breakfast (9:30 am over here) :disgust |
Damn, sorry to hear that.
It's a pity that epass load fees are so high, and that they cannot implement a "pay on demand" procedure like Paypal. That way you can clean out inbound payments and keep your balance at zero while still being able to pay people immediately. Doubt it would ever happen though. |
Arrrggghhh...fraudulent activity is such a headache and all too common. Good luck to you, and everyone else involved.
|
Well, I'd be happy if they would finally put a limit in place for p2p transfers aswell. And I mean the amount of $$, not the amount of transactions. I mean, I can get only $520 a day through ATM (and that's the increased limit already), but it's possible to steal all money from the account within minutes? That just has to be changed. $300 daily limit for p2p transfers would be :thumbsup
|
sorry to hear that. They got me for close to 2500 that way.
|
A feature where you would have to confirm each transaction through email would be nice, at least as an optional security feature.
Or am I overseeing something that makes this an idiotic idea? :1orglaugh |
Sorry to hear you got ripped off mate, hopefully you have caught it in time and get you're money back, good luck

And as exactly the same has happened to dozens if not hundreds or thousands of other ePassporte account holders, it would be nice if they'd finally admit that they have a security problem. Too bad that I have to use them because of the unbelievably high withdrawal fees for international checks and wires over here. Otherwise I would have dumped 'em a long time ago already. |
well. yes - email confirmation for each transaction will be really good.
i not sure - but think it will help. |
Or why not a security code for each transaction over say $100 one for yourself to confirm the transfer from your account and one for the reciever to accept the transfer.
The codes could be stored in a seperate account area (with seperate password) and be generated from there so your account is safe.... |
I thought that epass said that they were taking step so to insure that this kind of thing did not happen in the future?

Wow that's a shocker. :disgust It would appear to the casual observer that their "security procedures" are there to keep money in their system as long as possible, and not there to prevent people from getting defrauded. All this send us scanned records after 5k etc., low max withdraws from ATMs, etc. muck-a-muck. If they REALLY wanted to protect the USERS from shit like this happening, there are about a million ways for them to do it. :2 cents: Email confirmation of transactions would be one of the easiest ways, and would require someone to then exploit not only your epassporte account, but your email account too. Transaction pins was another great suggestion. Will we ever see someone come along to take their place? I wish fucking PayPal would just chill out about adult and then we'd all be golden. PS: Michael you are a customer service god, I think most everyone here would acknowledge that. If Epassporte isn't paying you 6 figures I'd move to a different company. You are the ONLY thing keeping them in business. Well, that and the fact that their a monopoly. |
Well, what I'm doing now is setting a max of 2 transactions a day on the account for the Virtual Card with a low maximum per transaction. That way it's only possible to make one p2p transfer (transfer itself and the second one for the fee) every day. This should at least prevent from losing such a big sum (yeah, $1k is a big sum for me) again. And being able to only send one p2p transfer each day - sucks, but I can deal with it.

But back to my case... So, just got up now and I can login to my ePass account again, so yeah - has not been deleted :pimp I also received a message about what they are doing right now. They are trying to get the money back that has left ePassporte's system already - the money that has been withdrawn already. They'll notify me by August 8th if they had any success, but actually I don't have much hope. These thieves know what they're doing. I also got a new virtual card and I will receive a new plastic card aswell (both free of charge). OK, good thing, because the thieves might know at least card number and expiry date of the old one's now - but still fucked. Because of course it'll take about 3 weeks again until I receive my new plastic card, so now I have to make sure that sponsor's don't pay out to this account, otherwise I'll be back to the old amount, that has been stolen very soon, but without the electron card I can't get the money outta there :( So much for this update :winkwink: |
no news here
they just sent me a bullshit email "ePassporte Additional Safety Features" |
New Drama. Added to the list.
|
I just had my account blocked for a suspicious transaction.
I sent $500 to a friend who i have been transferring $$ to for 2 years ( and he to me). Took them 8 days to flag it and block it - lets hope its unblocked soon or i will be a very unhappy bunny. I have several thousand due in that account next week. |
epassporte is going to die a slow and painful death - this sort of shit is a JOKE
|
wow... that is crazy...
i was thinking of opening up an epass account myself.. maybe i should wait until this is resolved. |
man thats fucked up!!!!!! :helpme
hope you get it back man |
Bump for epass shenanigans...
One would wonder if they are as "innocent" as they claim to be when it comes to these "security breeches" why don't they implement a SIMPLE email verification... I mean DAMNIT how easy would that be? It would virtually eliminate a person's ability to steal from their customers. I guess as long as people in this industry keep lying down and taking it up the ass epass will keep letting you get fucked. Try making this your motto: "I am sorry but we don't take epass." |

- They are quite happy to charge me automatically for the card, however it took me weeks to renew the virtual card as it's not as profitable for them to auto-renew it. - I'm sorry but Michael aside, I will not trust my money with anyone who cannot answer an email, or a phone call with a rock bottom level of competency. I refuse on principle, to go through Michael for anything because I should get a consistent level of service across the board! This isn't a freelance design company, these are people who handle MONEY, and have ACCESS to your banking info!!! :2 cents: |
Damn.. sorry to hear.

This really makes me believe that these accounts are not safe. Maybe that is why they put customers funds in *temporary fund protection mode* Sorry to hear you got burned :disgust |
Bump...:winkwink::winkwink::winkwink:
|
sorry to hear, but please think if you did everything for your security. its always easier to say that mistake happenned on the other side, but only way is to know your password so maybe easy pass it the point ;) anyway wish you to get your situation solved
