all I require my phone to do is make and receive calls.... not download the Interweb, hold an mp3 playlist that'll last a year with no repeats, do my shopping or laundry, or scratch my ass for me.

if all you require is a basic phone then why not just get a 150$ nokia so when your phones get broken its not a super big deal like this 300$ phone seems to be???

1. Nokia sucks.
2. It's not a big deal anymore.... I got the insurance on the new one, so now if I destroy it, a new one is only $50 bucks.

however, that non-insured replacement was in fact painful.

A mate of mine is now classed as uninsurable (probably spelt wrong) with phones due to toilet dropping 5 of them and leaving another 3 on the train going home.

Insurance is vital with them. I dont know how phone insurance companies make money as I have spent £200 on insurance over 4 years and have cost them easily £800.

i don't know, but I asked them specifically if the insurance covers "swimming" and they said yes....

good thing, cuz it's real easy to forget it's in your pocket when you're in mid-leap.

Mobile phone insurance companies can be fuckers paying out with water damage. Some of them in the UK wont pay out for rain damage because they say it is your fault for not protecting the phone.

By swimming did you actually jump in a pool with it in your pocket?

oh yeah.... jumped in, swam around for a while.... got out, did some work.... then jumped in again.


after I dried it out for 2 days, it vibrated for about 30 minutes, and that was it. Paperweight.

Razrs are gay or for girls. Plus a razr here is about €130 = $180... so if you pay almost twice as much for that girly phone, well... it's not smart.

People lined up for days here waiting for it. For a phone that costs around $500 bucks and limits you to a single provider.

you can't get a replacement due to it being damaged by water, but what you can do is open the back of your case you'll see a raised dot the size of a paper punch hole that is red, take some white out or white model paint and paint it white to the best of your ability, now call up your carrier and tell them your phone isn't turning on, their going to ask if it was damaged by water and so on, you tell them no, i just can't turn the phone on it was working fine and now it won't turn on, so next they tell you to open the back of the phone and tell them what color the dot is that you have painted white obviously if you said red they would know that the phone was damaged by water, tell them it's white they'll tell you they are shipping a new phone out blah blah blah and that you should return the old phone promptly.

did this with a few of my razr's and it worked with no problems.

worse that could happen is you get charged for the new phone but as long as you don't throw any flags you'll be good to go.

oh and to explain the red dot thing they put some coating on there that dissolves when it gets wet to alert them to any water damage the phone has had.

My husband's $500 PDA was assassintated by our waitress when we were out to dinner one night... he had it on the table and as she was clearing, she took one plate too many, causing the entire pile to shift and come down, completely shattering his display.... talk about watching something happen in slow motion!

Fortunately for us, it was a national restaurant chain, so they were quick to pick up the bill. Okay, well not exactly quick, but eventually we got reimbursed!
