Word press SEO question

Currently I have my permalinks set the standard way

domain.com/?p=144

I would like to change them to use the titles
domain.com/title/

is this going to fuck up my existing pages if I change it to use titles?

I already make it to the front page for a great keyword and I would like to get all the rest of my individual posts spidered

Shit I will own the keyword I think if I can just flip it over

I have seen it mess up some old permalinks, but that was an older version of WP.

That's a good solution in case if you're absolutely sure your post names are unique.

I think that WP adds a number to any multiple posts that are named exactly the same... at least in the url

You shouldn't run into any problems. I don't know why they don't make SEO friendly URLs the default.

Nope, not if you use/%postname%/, the number doesn't appear automatically.

I'd recommend

/%postname%-%post_id%.html

instead. So your titles are always unique, since the post_id is a unique number and you got a .html instead of a directory, which speeds up the indexing.

if ur pages are already indexed u need to tell google the new urls via reddirect.
