Fucker scan just about every vid on the net, I found a bunch of my vids, and they can be downloaded directly. Sure they have a link to your site, but fuck that.

Where did you find free adult movies?

I can't find the area you are talking about man, I am interested in what these guys are up to.

Mikeee, are you saying that Divx.com (projectmayo) is taking video content from paysites and such, and re-encoding it to thier crappy codec, and letting their members download it from their servers?!? wtf? or is it just content that has been posted to usenet for advertising purposes that they are snagging? please say it isn't so, one more scamming operation to worry about is not what i need these days..!

The way the technology works is that it actively searches for divx files and where they are. I made a post about this when they launched it over a month ago and no one replied to that thread.

vas??? they are linking to files on *our* servers that are encoded in the Divx format? i assume these links must be only in world-viewable area's, they aren't getting members area content somehow are they? that sucks...

also, i saw the thread over at porncity months ago about how Divx.com was taking media content from other sites and encoding it to their format and posting en masse to usenet, mostly groups like a.b.m.erotica... this seemed a bit of an underhanded way to try to get people to install their codec to me at the time, it was never mentioned whether they were licensing the content or not, some claimed to have been ripped in this fashion...

What's the fuss about? DivX's video web crawler isn't doing anything different from other web crawlers on the net. Hell, it is probably generating traffic for sites.

Since divx is so popular, I'd say try to work with Bez and generate traffic. I know a lot of guys "leak" video clips and paysite account info onto peer-to-peer networks and irc, because when people download a hot video and see the url in the corner, they go check it out.

Remember every grey cloud (people stealing your videos) can have a silver lining (new source of revenue). Then again, they shouldn't be stealin' yer shit in the first place.

Yes ok that's fine, but the issue HERE is these fuckheads hotlinking to other people movies, stealing their bandwidth and making them jump through fucking hoops to get them taken down.

IMO they could actually fix the problem with a slight redesign so that it wasn't such a blatant rip off, and it encouraged surfers to visit the site a bit more prominently. Then, they might actually be appreciated.

I like the codec and media player you offer from your site. However, I don't like your fucking "prevent it so we can't hotlink you" atittude. We deal with enough shithead organizations stealing our bandwidth then turning around blaming US for not protecting ourselves from it. Why must yours be another one of these shitheads?

Do the right fucking thing man, ASK FOR PERMISSION. Many webmasters would gladly let you link to their movies in exchange for a banner spot on the page or anything of significant value. You are messing with alot of frikin angry webmasters here who would gladly send this information off to their lawyers and tie your site up in so much god damn red tape it would make your head spin. We ARE the power of the internet. Without us your site would NOT survive. Sure DivX ecoded movies account for legitimately mainstream applications, however the bulk of divx users are more than likely only using it for adult videos. Why must you bite the hand that feeds you mutherfucker?

I've been reading about these sorts of things in the news papers for a while now. I just wanted to point you to my FAQ, which explains how you should add extra alarms and security to prevent me from breaking into your house and stealing your livelihood .

Also, if you send me a note, asking me to stop breaking the law, I'll jsut go and steal your car, or maybe your parent's shit instead. Who knows, I might even steal from them several times a week.
