Dammit! ONe of my laptops is fucked - "Cannot find OS"

Managed to kick my main lappy off the bed yesterday, and on restarting (it hung) I just get the cannot find operating system message.

I've changed the boot sequence to DVD drive forst, but it refuses to boot from the XP recovery disk.

Anybody got any ideas? Am I fucked?

Open the HD case on the bottom and check its fully pushed in......

yes probably need to change a harddrive...happened to me a year ago or so...
