A Final Farewell to John Foulds A.K.A ?jayeff?
this is an edited repost of what i posted on another board for John as i know there are a lot of people in this forum who cared for him too.
Sadly, on the 31st of May 2007, John Foulds a.k.a. jayeff passed away. Later John was cremated and his ashes have since been sent home to his family in the UK. John?s handle ?jayeff? was one of the most widely recognized and respected in our industry. I know for many of us including myself, DamageX, and a great many more, that John was actually the single most respected webmaster we knew. To me, John was also my mentor, my confidant, and my closest friend. I feel an abhorrent sense of loss now he?s gone and have been in a state of deep shock in his absence. His passing is a great loss to us all and to this industry as a whole. It?s almost unbearably saddening to me that someone like John with his astonishingly acute intelligence and insight had to live with such poor health and to do so while on the edge of financial ruin. Because John had no medical insurance he was financially wiped out, again and again. In August 2002 one of John?s two daughters was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The doctors told him it was a simple matter of surgery and that she would be okay. 11 hours of surgery proved to be a total waste of time. Then she had gamma knife surgery? ditto? and finally another open surgery from which sadly she did not survive. These surgeries left John without his daughter and with in excess of $750,000.00 in medical bills. Resourceful as John was he may well have recovered financially if it weren?t for his own health conditions including angina, two types of cancer, and congenital heart failure which sung its final sad song on May 31. Since John?s departure I have been in frequent contact with his ex-partner Sheri, a lovely woman who has been left with the daunting task of finalizing John?s personal affairs and with my help, his business affairs too. Unfortunately, Sheri has been left with some of jayeff?s debt and of course there were funeral costs as well. I ask that anyone who has been in some way touched by jayeff to please donate something however great or small as I know he would not want to leave Sheri with this debt that she simply cannot afford to pay. If you do feel to give, please donate whatever is within your means, to [email protected]. jayeff?s Legacy: Former clients ? if you need anything from John such as your original PSD?s, code or whatever, please contact lex on icq (233368071) as I can most probably help you, assuming either I know who you were to John, or you can prove ownership of the domain for which your design/code relates. Carpe Jugular - is seeking writers who would like to submit Word Press and CSS related articles in exchange for links. If you would like to be part of jayeff?s legacy by contributing to carpejugular.com then please contact lex on icq 233368071. ps. i am not yet a familiar in this forum but perhaps one of the mods here will be kind enough to sticky this post out of respect for jayeff. |
Who?
... |
if she has $750k of debt tell her to declare bankruptcy.
End of story and debt. next? |
i guess i should clarify that we're not trying to raise 750k for her. but there is some small consumer credit on her accounts on John's behalf and then funeral costs.

Lex, if there's anything I can do to help jayeff's clients or whatever please don't hesitate to let me know. I will at least try. Jayeff was a good friend and very well respected among those who knew him and shared his thoughts. I miss him. The thread here mentioning his passing was also filled with much love and respect.

As soon as we have some money in Epass I will donate it.
I spoke to Jeff on ICQ and the phone. Great guy. I'm so sad. |

If he was British why he didnt fly his daughter back to the UK to get treated for free is beyond me. I will give in a time of need though. |

Sorry for your loss lex.

I'd also like to pay my respects, jayeff helped me out a shit load way back in my newbie days on tom's newbie booster many years ago. Since then I've always enjoyed reading his posts and he was one of the few posters whose posts I would always take the time to read. He had an enormous amount of knowledge he was willing to share, for the sake of sharing and teaching rather than for selfish profit, and could explain complicated processes simply and effectively. I didn't know him on a personal level except from the boards, but he always struck me as a top notch bloke. Respect.

Damn, I didn't hear about that.....
We didn't really get on to be honest - but unlike some his arguments where always well thought out and at least made me think about things - even if I disagreed. A sad loss indeed..... :( |
holy fuck....what country would addle someone with 750,000 dollars of medical bills?
that alone seems criminal feel bad for him...i recognise his name but never got to know him |

We don't have to be kissing cousins to make money together. LOL Anyone want to buy content and pay on Epss I will put it all in to the fund for Jeff. Unless I need it to pay off the designer. |
lex, I miss John and still think of him daily the moment I log onto my blogs and get pissed at something cuz I could hear him telling me to stop touching the settings and screwing something up ;)
I sent my donation, I know for a fact that some of his housing decisions and life course in the past few years was to prevent Sheri from having any financial burden at the time of his death - which he knew was coming fast. Rest in Peace, John - you deserve it. |

can you icq me and let me know any company names he may have used so i can check our databases to see what if anything is owed him or his family? i searched his name, but most affiliates dont use their names, they use a company, or DBA. thanks alot. we recently had another affiliate pass and i would like to see the family get any monies owed. :) |
