Geeze what a frustrating day
 

My landlord was having somebody come into my place today to do some work and part of it was electrical. I had spoken to the landlords a number of times and explained that I worked from home and asked about what disruption there would be to the power. Every single time they told me that the power would only have to go off a couple times and then only for 20 minutes or so at a time.

Then they show up today at 9:15am my time and the very first thing they do is cut all the power (without telling me so I can power down my computers first) and they keep it down until just a little bit ago (6:45pm my time).

Grrrr....

As much as I could when I am not the one paying them.

Even better is that they didn't finish doing whatever they need to do with the light fixings. So, no lights in my house tonight!

And this heat is a great time to have the power to your fridge freezer off.

Several years ago I lived next door to a Chinese man who was a day trader (he was actually a pharmacist at a top hospital but took a sabbatical to make and then lose a few million day trading). The power company came out one day and cut his power and internet connection. It was down for 4 hours. He was out there the entire time screaming at them in alternating English and Chinese :)

You'd THINK he'd be smart enough to have a back up carrier...or at least go to Starbucks. But it was pretty entertaining to watch from my office window ;)

I did think about going into central London and finding an internet cafe but I didn't really want to leave my house with workmen in it. Plus, you know all about the censoring at London internet cafes :)

Well, I will be happy when they are done it just sucks now. In the last two weeks we have had new kitchen, new bathroom, house painted and this is new wiring. It will be nice but damn, I wish it was over.

arrgghhh... that's really pain in the ass Sarah. Is it okay now?

I have no lights in my house until they come fix them tomorrow. I am living off the monitor glow at the moment.lol. In a bit I shall be taking a bath in pitch darkness because I don't want to be naked and in the shower when the workmen are at my house at 8am.
