Moniker?s silent adult domain name auction ? going on NOW!

Hi All

Moniker's silent domain name auction is now open and will run through Thursday, August 9th.

Link to: http://silentauction.moniker.com and start bidding/buying! There are SO many great names to choose from/buy.

If anyone has any questions feel free to hit me up. :thumbsup

baycouples 08-06-2007 12:23 PM

I can't even look around - it asks me to login. C'mon - everybody needs to see what's up before they register.

I did try to register but it's asking me for some access phrase.

KGucci 08-06-2007 01:33 PM

Here's a bump for you mama!

Jim_Gunn 08-06-2007 02:15 PM

I tried to login with my Moniker account user id and pass and it wouldn't work and when I tried to register it asks me for an access phrase which I have no clue where that is supposed to come from.

I thought the silent auction went on for a few days ? How did you already pick up a few?

Were the ones you got any good?

Forkbeard 08-06-2007 06:06 PM

LOL, spamming an auction not open to the public, that's a new low!

Evil-Dan 08-06-2007 08:29 PM

hey moniker - how do we bid on this auction?

Brad Mitchell 08-06-2007 08:36 PM

Get in there people and buy my domains! :)

Brad

pimpin 08-06-2007 09:52 PM

Folks, since Jrzeygirl was strangely non-responsive to the folks asking how to log in, I went looking elsewhere. Apparently "Hit me up" means "hit me up with money" -- at least according to Domain Name Wire, which reports:

Quote:

Anyone who has previously registered for a Moniker silent auction may participate in the Internext silent auction for free by visiting silentauction.moniker.com. People who have not registered for previous Moniker auctions must pay a $299 absentee fee to participate if they did not register for the expo.
I think that silent detail makes this officially a spam thread, no?

Forkbeard 08-07-2007 01:06 AM

And by the way, no. I'm not planning to spend three hundred bucks to access an auction that won't even let me look at the goods first.

worst thread of the week

$299 before you even see if the domains are decent? Fuck me - that's an idea this industry should use more.

Imagine - surfers are presented with a blank white page with:
"Want to see hot teen bodies fucking each other? Or maybe they could be mature MILFs, or old fucking hags with more saggy titty than the Michelin man - but you won't find out unless you pay us the one-off fee of $59.99 to actually get into our site!

Pay today without delay, or you could be disappointed/pleased!".

Hey ForkBeard...I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you/everyone. For whatever reason, I'm not automatically notified when a reply is generated and I don't just sit and watch/monitor GFY all day. The $299.00 absentee fee is used towards any purchases made in the silent auction.

Any questions hit me up.

MacDevilish 08-07-2007 07:49 AM

I am going to try to clear up the instructions as well as give some explaination on this, so that everyone can get an idea of how to access this.

FIRST - The username/password to get into the Moniker silent auction is NOT your Moniker ACCOUNT username/password... You have to register specifically for the auction. Keeping that in mind, read on...

Your best course is to view the auction domain names at this link:

http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/au...auction_id=142

If you see some that you like you will need to get the passphrase. We haven't posted the passphrase in the forums because there have been a couple of people in the past who haven't been able to pay for the names that they bid upon... which kind of sucked... SOOOO your best bet is to contact your moniker account exec, or contact Jrzeygirl or myself so that we can get you the access you need.

I apparently had missed your change of ICQ ThumbLords, I apologize... I also had to start going to bed earlier, as the 2am EST to 4am ICQ sessions answering your questions were seriously damaging my sleep time... I will try and make myself more available.

Any questions hit me up.

Because I am annoyed and irritated by the the progress of this thread, I'm not going to be my usual professional self. I'm calling *bullshit* on the "I'm not notified" / "I do not monitor" response. You posted this spam thread without mentioning that your link required an expensive registration just to view, and then when people began asking how to view it, you replied at least twice with "hit me up" instead of answering the question. It's my opinion that you were deliberately playing "hide the ball" and trying to disguise the spammy nature of your thread. We're all grownups here, you could have responded to the first inquiry with "sorry, forgot to mention it's a paid registration." But, you didn't. Too late now to claim you didn't see those questions, because you answered them in a "misleading-by-omission" fashion.

Props to Chris for responding with a link and an explanation, but I'm still not real impressed even by his response. First of all, the link he provided takes me to a list of the domains that were in the live auction. I'd found that link already. But I do not see (perhaps I'm having a navigation failure?) any link to the silent auction domain list -- which (it was my impression, perhaps wrong?) is a different / bigger list?

And second, Chris does not expressly indicate what's going to happen when you "contact your moniker account exec, or contact Jrzeygirl or myself so that we can get you the access you need." Will that, or will that not, involve paying you three hundred bucks?

I see two possibilities here - either they really do want three hundred bucks but they're unwilling to say so in public (lame!) or they will give free access to anybody who jumps through the right hoops, shows their "bro card", "hits them up", grovels, whatever, but they don't want to say THAT in public either. FUCK that shit, I'm tired of guessing games. I don't buy from bricks and mortar stores that don't display a price, I don't buy from commissioned salesmen who respond to "what do you want for it" with a list of features, and I don't like playing "can I be in your clubhouse?" games. I pay full retail if the product is worth the price, and I don't have *time* to fuck around. It's always been my view that if a merchant won't state his price up front and in writing, he's not serious about doing business.

I've heard nothing but good about Moniker in the past. As my domaining activities have been overtaking my adult webmastering work, I've been increasingly thinking I need to take some of my business there. I saw domains sell in the Live Auction at prices I would have outbid in a heartbeat if I could have been there. I think all that makes me a qualified buyer for this silent auction thing. But, after two visits to the live auction site, a couple of visits to the Moniker homepage, careful attention to the Moniker spam thread on the leading adult webmaster board, a couple of pointed inquiries and complaints, the responsible Moniker reps have not only failed to tell me how I can access the auction or even see the catalog, they've insisted on playing "hide the ball" about identifying the rules in public. So, fuckit. I tried. Plenty of other outfits competing for my eyeballs, my interest, and my domain budget.

mmmm hmmmm...well like i said prior moniker leaves a lot to be desired with regards to their site and some of their procedures, but I disagree with you on this one. I think what they have ben successful at is bringing some really big buyers and sellers to the table that were not there prior. If that means a bit or exclusivity, or a membership fee to show your a serious buyer/seller and not someone who is going to be a whiny newbe peon and waste everyones time end energy then so be it. Not by any means am i calling you a whiney newbe peon mind you =))

btw if you saw Jrzeygirl in person you would be much nicer to her shes a smokin hottie! :)

btw #2. the 299 is to prevent fake bidding and the money is used towards any purchases in the silent auction

my :2 cents::2 cents:

carry on

Obviously I haven't communicated well.

I don't have any problem with "a bit of exclusivity" or the membership fee either one. My problem is with the deceptiveness, the "hide the ball" game, the "hit us up" in response to direct and public questions.

I don't see why it would be so hard to be forthright about the rules and the plan. That is all.

And when it comes to domains, I definitely am a newbie peon. :Oh crap But I try not to whine except when provoked. :winkwink:

no provocation intended just givng you my thoughts bud =) not to mention i have about 100 domains listed for sale in there =)) so get to buying!

Forkbeard 08-07-2007 03:33 PM

LOL, I'd love to, but I still haven't seen a public list of the freakin' domains for sale, and I'm not willing to put up three hundred bucks until I see names I know I want to bid on. Maybe that makes me a newbie, or maybe it just makes me tight-fisted, I dunno.

4Pics 08-07-2007 03:34 PM

Can you please email me a actual list of domains that are currently for sale?

The link provided is the one we saw for Florida.

Icq #1234937 or [email protected]

Thanks

They are here under "Download the Master Auction Inventory List"
after you enter through here

thank you Chris for contacting me and heh it will never ever happen again, you can bet on that

- How can I get access to it (secret phrase...)
- Can we also add our own domains for sale?

cheers

LOL, thanks quickdraw. I saw that link, but I was looking for something that said "Silent Auction" on it somewhere, so I missed its significance.

I agree Moniker has the right to make money any way they like

But on this point I agree. Imagine being a seller of one of these domains in their list, knowing that we the potential buyers haven't a clue whats for sale unless we pay money up front.

I would like to know if I am interested in buying first before forking over any monies

Forkbeard 08-08-2007 11:52 AM

Turns out there *is* a list available, just not in web-viewable format. The page Moniker pointed us to with the already-sold live auction inventory had a link to the "master auction inventory" (we were supposed to guess that this was the silent auction and not the live auction list, I guess) in an Excel spreadsheet format, not web viewable.

Didn't help me a lot, since I'm on my travel machine with no Excel, rather than my work machine with all the software, but apparently if you looked under the right rocks you could find it.

I think if I were a domain owner with domains in this auction I'd be unimpressed by the manner of promoting the auction catalog.

To put it mildly.
