guy will have to pay taxes on Bonds ball even if he keeps it.
Here is an interesting story. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2007/...ap4005614.html
They say that the record breaking bonds ball is worth 500K to 600K and that if he sells it he will have to pay around 35% of the sale price in taxes. The problem for him is that if he decides he wants to keep it he will still have to pay the taxes on the appraised value of the ball and he would have to pay capitol gains tax on it if the value goes up and he sells it down the road. What I wonder is if they find out Bonds was roided up and the value of the ball plummets, would he get his taxes back? |
I would have to disagree.
|
Taxes back, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ahahhha hha aha
ya right. |
The tax laws state that even if he were to give the ball to Bonds he would still be liable for the taxes on it. However, under similar circumstances with McGuire some politicians stepped forward and afterwards the IRS backed off. Too bad nobody stepped up for Joe Lewis back in the day. :Oh crap
|
Its a fucking ball. Jesus.
If Bonds gets nailed on the roids charges I hope they give the record back to Hank Aaron. |
What a stupid fucking thing.
|
That's just silly.
How much would John Holmes cock have apraised for? He'd have to cut it off to pay the taxes on it. |
he should immediately move offshore :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
|
That's lame. He busted his ass to get that ball and it's not even worth that much. Mcguires ball went for 3 mil or something like that, and this record is way bigger.

Bonds is 100% guilty of juicing....as a grown man his head size increased over 2 hat sizes....its impossible for that to happen unless u have the same disease that Andre the Giant had and died from or if you use Growth Hormones....GULTY!!!
give the record to Hammering Hank Aarron |

My thoughts exactly but the government wont let us have SHIT without them getting a piece of it. You are not allowed to have money that they dont know about (as far as they are concerned). If you have 5 mill cash stashed some where and the government get's wind of it, they'll ask where the fuck you got it and how come they didn't get a piece. They then fine you and if you dont pay they garnish wages. If a pimp find out his ho has $5000 that he doesn't know about, he'll ask her where the fuck she got it and why he didn't get a piece of it. He'll then slap that bitch and take what's his. We're being pimped people. High Level pimpin is what the government is doing. |
that's completely retarded:2 cents:
|
If a lot of guys in baseball are taking Juice then isn't it an even playing field ? Maybe the pitchers are on juice also and throwing faster and harder to hit balls then when Hank Aaron was playing. I don't watch baseball or even care but its just the first thing that came to mind.
|
if he really has to pay taxes on this stupid ball then the US tax rules are completely ridiculous!

Still a lot more than he had to begin with
|
200,000. 600,000. taxed?!? what a fucking joke.
|
Even after taxes, it's still a hell of a lot more than he woke up with. I'd hawk it ASAP if I were him, in case the juicing allegations taint the record.
|
Yeah, I can't feel too sorry for him, it's still worth tons

Peole needs to brush up on tax rates. 35% only applies to everything above $336,550. So if the ball is worth $600 the max tax rate is $187,000 assuming he's single adn has no children. Not $210K which is 35% of $600,000. If he's married and has 2 kids his taxes on a ball worth $600K would be lower.

I was 20' away when that all went down. Standing in Row1 above the Bonds HR sign. A couple degree to the right and I would've had a chance.
What an electric and chaotic environment! He had to really fight to keep that ball. It was a truly great sports memory I'll always remember. Ohh and btw I think this delay is just his clever move to get more money. :) |
if this is true, that is pretty lame
|
bonds is a cheating bitch....they should tax bonds for every ball he hits out the park, steroids tax
|
I saw the video on that, I am amazed no one got killed for that stupid thing.
|
Well if the owner used the ball as ball then well what could the Government do then?
Not sure if anyone else also caught mythbusters last night, it was an all baseball special. Besides finding out that bat corking is useless and it makes you hit less distance. I was amazed to see the whole issue about keeping balls in a humidor so they do not travel as far when hit. Apparently this was first done in Denver shortly after the stadium opened up there and it was home run central until they started keeping the balls in a humidor. Now they claim that the whole league will begin doing that shortly. What does all this have to do with any records. 1. The game has changed a great deal since many records were put into place. 2. Even the league is altering the effects of the ball. 3. It showed that the strength of the pitch has just to much to do with the hitting distance as the strength of the batter. 4. That Sammy Sosa fucked himself for no good reason at all. Personally I do not give a crap about baseball. I find it boring to watch even live. As for the records, who gives a fuck, to many variables have been altered or changed over the years that it just does not really matter anymore. |

Tune into ESPN any day/night this week. They have all the records of his hat size from his Pittsburgh days to now....they can match the hat size to when he started bulking up. They had 3 different doctors all confirm this as well. This is just ESPN. SNY and FoxSports had the exact same info and doctors on to confirm this. The only explanantion for his increased head size is growth hormone since he does not have the "andre the giant" disease. |
If he is a smart man he will buy properties to avoid the penalties.

Hmm, then why isn't he out of baseball? That stuff is illegal. I will tell you why, it's called HERESAY. Please don't get me wrong, i'm not a bonds fan, innocent until proven guilty. |

oh yeah, if you think a pitcher can throw harder fast balls in his 40s than when he was thirty (shcilling & clemons) you need to think again. The pitchers are all using as well and Aaron did not swing at 100 MPH fast balls..not even close. Bonds is a product of his enviorment. They wanted more fans so they chose to let thier athletes use performance enhancers and reaped the monetary rewards. Now they turn on the athletes as if they did not know a thing. Baseball sucks.

hes done it all...goes hand and hand...they just blanket all the drugs and call it "steroids"... |
just a thought: look at all the ballparks Bonds hit his home runs in and compare them to the ballparks Ruth and Aarron hit their home runs in....

It really is hard to compare eras. The guys these days are so much bigger and stronger. They throw harder, run faster and are full time athletes. I read the book The Big Bam about Babe Ruth. Many of the players in those days didn't make shit playing ball so they played ball then went and worked on a farm or whatever in the off-season. Today guys play winter ball, have scouting reports, specialty pitching and better equipment. It was obvious that MLB wanted more home runs and more scoring so they juiced the balls and shrunk the parks and things like that to increase home run totals. There was a year where Babe Ruth hit 45 homes runs and the next highest guy on his team had 9. These days you see a lot of teams with 4-5 guys that hit 25-30 or more. All that said Bonds before he started bulking up, was one of, if not the best player of his era. He was hitting home runs (not as many obviously), he has gold gloves, has a great arm, stole bases etc. If, when it is all said and done, he is found out to be roided up and on hgh or other things like that I have to wonder how many of his home runs are from that, how many are from the better gear and the stadiums/equipment of the era and how many were just because he is an amazing hitter. |
Thats crazy.

i agree, definitely one of the top players ever....he can do it all. Just the circumstances and mix that in with his winning personality...I just cant wait for A-ROD to pass bonds there so many aspects of the game that can be compared but analysts on TV fail to talk about them.... |
