It does seem most of the complaints come from the brand.

Isn't it the truth?
Why you would own something that gives you so much grief I'll never know.
The Vista threads are so sad.

peterk 08-25-2007 03:01 AM

My Sony Vaio is doing just fine with Vista :)

I have no problems with Vista. When I started, there were teething issues. But actually haven't had a problem since I reinstalled and got everything right. Not saying Mac isn't better. I wouldn't know ... I have yet to use the latest OS. ... but in all honesty, I can't warrant the price of a Mac right now. They're WAY more expensive than PC's.

jimthefiend 08-25-2007 06:31 AM

Have had zero issues with Vista on this.

milkit 08-25-2007 06:36 AM

i have the hp tablet with vista home premium and it works perfect. i love it

Big_Red 08-25-2007 06:40 AM

you can always get a refurbished MAC for far less. same warranty and support. Know of a few people who did that and have yet to have a problem.

Macs have also come down in price...

Steve Awesome 08-25-2007 09:08 AM

Guys, again, if you're going to buy hardware from ANY manufacturer you need to make sure you can run Win XP on it if it was designed to run Vista. When you come up empty handed because it contains new hardware that has no XP compatible driver you will continue to have similar experiences over and over. Going back to 2001 I saw the same thing with people whining about installing Windows ME instead of accepting that it was an XP machine and then bitching about the resulting hardware issues.

jacked 08-25-2007 09:09 AM

just picked up a sony vaio with vista on it and haven't had a problem yet...

Dirty F 08-25-2007 09:10 AM

Vista is by far the best OS so far.

Vendzilla 08-25-2007 11:22 AM

My 3 month old laptop from Del works great on Vista Premium, make sure your running at least 2 gig's of ram

Star 69 08-25-2007 12:21 PM

Not really correct :) The truth is:
laptop - a useful thing.
vista - a piece of shit.

First Gb to run vista, another one - to run the applications. Why not use all the memory to run your programs? I'm talking about Win2k and XP :)

zigx 08-25-2007 12:55 PM

www.ubuntu.com :)

Manowar 08-25-2007 12:57 PM

the patches are starting to make vista come together a bit more now, but god damn it still needs work

I could cut out a few things and make it run just fine on 1 gig, but I like to run all the features and if that takes 2 gigs, then thats what I'm going to get.
I love the widgets
the media center is very cool
extra protection for when your checking trades and find that one asshole that has a loader program
GUI interface, very Mac like

My daughter got a program that woudn't run on Vista on her new laptop, but I haven't had that problem

BusterBunny 08-25-2007 03:25 PM

vista = shit on any rig:2 cents:

Aha, it still needs a patch that will remove all that DRM shit to make it work at least 25% faster :thumbsup

Sid70 08-25-2007 03:38 PM

a VAIO only if you go with PC.

Martin3 08-25-2007 05:22 PM

I love Vista, but I'll admit microsoft made the minimum requirements too low. Or they should have a trimmed down version for cheap laptops.

If you're buying $400 laptops, 2kpro or a tweaked XP is the best you can hope for to keep it running smooth.

Rochard 08-25-2007 07:24 PM

I have a Dell laptop with Vista - in fact, I got about a week after Vista started selling. I have no problems.

teg0 08-25-2007 07:55 PM

HPs are now all Asus loaded machines with top quality components. The issues are 90% of the time that stupid HP Adviser application. Kill it and you'll have a very smooth running machine...

Also to the people with Vista issues. STOP USING OLD SOFTWARE and you'll be fine. I know it sucks that the program you illegally downloaded 12 months ago is not compatible but meh.. c'est la vie!

Marshal 08-25-2007 09:36 PM

vista sux anyway... :)

We sell lots of Macs at my work... I'm exposed to them on a daily basis. Macs are not the holy grail of computers.. sheesh get over yourselves. It's a PC with a different operating system that's based on linux and visual styles stolen from stardock's suite of applications and many add-ons created for many linux distros.

Fact: Mac is NOT better than PC
Fact: PC is NOT better than MAC

FACT: Anything with support is better than Windows as a whole.
FACT: Load an alternative OS on a PC and get same if not better performance than a MAC.

The only thing making a mac of any use is the OS. It's too bad the OS can't be ported to a "PC" that's not tattooed for MAC OS. Would be 50 percent cheaper and more powerful.

Evil1 08-25-2007 11:35 PM

i have a hp w/vista... gives me no problems at all

os x 86 for pc. I have not tested this . Similar to what you are saying I think. Do you have other recommendations for OS to load on PC ?

Thanks.

Adultnet 08-25-2007 11:50 PM
