Christians have considered themselves soldiers of god for as long as can be remembered, and the term is applied to not only christians, muslims, but jews too.

Sounds like you have been hearing CNN's usual dramatised trailors for Christiane Amanpour's "God's Warriors" - a series of three pieces covering bullshit extremism in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths.

The common denominator with all of them is that they *think* they are all on God's right hand and filled with hypocrisy, biggotry and hate - and all tend to adopt "righteous" attitudes to cover their spewage.
