I think someone stole my identity

IM FUCKED

Wierd shit going down.

Listen to this. A while back I started a small venture.

My partner and I setup a merchant account, and made a business checking account with First Union.

the story continues.............

Anyway, "the venture" didnt work out too well due to the provider we were reselling through so we figured we'd drop it. We had one client, Ben was his name on a dedicated server plan. Ben was moved back over to the host that we were reselling through when we stopped XT Networks.

Please note that there was at least $400 in the First Union checking account. I am the only one with access to the account, so it wasnt my partner (Dont consider that). This was back in May. None of us have touched the account since then.

So heres the deal, yesterday i get a slip from first union saying my account was overdrawn by $225.00. I began to panic.. I phoned First Union (FU -- for short) and they say Amex pulled $525 out of my account. (?) I called Amex and spoke with a rep who told me they pulled the money due to a chargeback on the account. I began to get a little agitated and started asking questions like, What was the name of the person who did the chargeback? and There is NO way that anyone could have done a chargeback for $525, we never charged anyone that. Please also understand that the one client, Ben was using a Visa card.

The lady tells me that Amex deposited the $525 into the FU account when the charge went through and then it was pulled due to the chargeback. I have absolutely NO record of the Amex deposit into my account. When i spoke of this, the lady got VERY angry and started yelling, "Sir, it shows right here that we put the money into your account." I told her that was impossible, if they did, the account wouldnt have overdrawn. After arguing some more, we finally hung up.

Stolen Identity?

no possible that that checking account number was owned by someone once

Run a credit report and see if you have any open accounts that you never created. I'm about to try that myself...
