4 days of no smoking....so i got myself a treat [widescreen monitor]

A new LG 22" wide/flat screen monitor.

Man watching tv shows on this bad boy is going to be the shit :thumbsup

Tomorrow (if stores are open) i need to get a new video card though, this Radeon series i have in my PC now just isn't going to cut it for HDTV episodes.

Can someone suggest a video card in the over 100, but under 250 range?

I can officially see my monitor from bed now :pimp

Video cards have very little to do with playing videos.

1950pro and 8600gts are decent card in that price range though.

Well I'm starting to do quite a bit of video editing, so i figure i need something better than the 9600 series Radeon i got....its only like 128mb ram etc.

ok well i picked up a 7300GT (only 100$) but it was PCI & i needed AGP, so im going back tomorrow to swap out....so you suggest the 8600 GT?

wow i got ripped off at bestbuy it was $100+ for the 7300GT, while new egg has it for Price:$69.99

That's still all processor. Video cards deal with 3d rendering. CPU upgrade would probably be better for video editing, but the 9600 is pretty old, if you game you'll want to upgrade that. But just a video card alone wont really help with video editing/encoding.

Video cards at retail stores are always over priced. The 1950pro or xt the best agp card on the market. Everything is pci-e these days.

gecko 09-02-2007 08:51 PM

Nice... congrats.

yea wtf, i went to put in that 7300GT & realized theres no slot on my motherboard for it :1orglaugh

wtf is pci-e anyways? its been 2.5 years since i bought a new computer, because the one i bought is top of the line (back then) & haven't had the need for a new one

so what company makes the 1950 pro, & who makes the xt, cuz i def need AGP for the moment, until i upgrade computers

Martin3 09-02-2007 09:16 PM

PCI-e is just the new expansion slot type all the new vid cards are using. Better through put then with pci/agp for the higher end cards.
ATI makes the card. Pro and xt are just different models of the same chipset. XT is a little bit faster. Looks like newegg only has one XT in stock and it's only 256mb. 512mb pro would be about the same, maybe slightly better.

RawAlex 09-02-2007 09:50 PM

Nvidia 8800, if you look around you should be able to find one under $250.

TurboAngel 09-02-2007 09:51 PM

Did you get me one as well?

;)

Vitasoy 09-02-2007 11:45 PM

Z 09-03-2007 08:57 AM

Sweet bro...but when you get here...it's time for dual samsung 24"s on the sides and a 42" in the middle.

Angie77 09-03-2007 09:06 AM
