I'm looking for a traffic trade script

I'm looking for a free traffic trade script, that is easy to use

Vendzilla 09-03-2007 10:37 AM

Use ATL3. Don't use ANY traffic script that uses MySQL (like epower trader mentioned above).

Why not?

MySQL isn't suitable for sites with shitloads of traffic (used in the most common way, at least), but it should be good enough for pretty much anyone who is looking for free scripts :2 cents:

The easy to install and configure script that simply does its job: http://www.slothtrader.com

First, ATL3 is a superior script. As for MySQL, if you're using it on a dedicated server and in a low traffic environment it might be ok. On a shared server it's a terrible idea. Not only is it inconsiderate to the other people on that MySQL server but you also have issues with the reliability of the MySQL server itself. How often do you see the MySQL server down in a shared environment? Do you really want your site to be down every time an overworked MySQL server chokes?

A trade script causes less mysql queries than, say, wordpress.

Of course, when you're getting in excess of ten or twenty thousand hits a day on a single site, you might want to start considering moving to a script that doesn't use mysql (and isn't free). Anything before that, though, should be easily handled by any decent host.

If things are down often, it's the host that's at fault.

ept has a very little load on a MySql database, as with any tgp, if your going after the big traffic, you need a dedicated box. I know a few sites runing on ept doing very well at over 400k a day. As for installing ept, there is no easier trade script to load. Just put in a folder in the root called ept, then in there put one php file called installept.php, then run http://yoursite.com/ept/installept.php and follow the instructions, it just doesn't get easier and we have a complete support forum at http://comusthumbs.com

What happens to your site if you run ept and MySQL goes down?
