propagating and hosting changes....

Don't you hate when you feel in a really productive mood and it seems like propagating moves at a snails pace and the host company you are relying on is taking a day to make an important dns change and then another day to add another change and you get all hung up and slowed down waiting.

I know I could do a million other things but I get stressed when an important site of mine are pointing to nothing for a good day or so.

serves me right for doing a bunch of work on a long weekend mostly in the middle of the nights

This shouldn't happen, there are plenty of things you can do to make sure your site stays up during a dns transfer. Unless your old hosting expired or something..

It is partially my fault in rushing to make changes before the box was fully set up for me, I just didn't anticipate the lag time in getting the dns pointed (it took a day and then they emailed me that it was all set, but found out it wasn't fully set up and now another day)

The hosting company has been awesome so I chalk this up to long weekend stress.

What's great is that the .com/.net TLD domains now have a 5 minute DNS update policy. This happened about 1-2 years ago - prior to that changes took anywhere from 12 - 24 hours, however now-a-days you can switch DNS name servers in less than 5 minutes - makes moving domains much easier.

So keep it in mind - unfortunately not all TLD domains have this policy.

Yea, that is frustrating, for sure.

damn it, I'm still waiting on one, the whois shows the proper nameservers and has for 24 hours, yet my hosts cpanel STILL won't let me add the domain

what a piss off, I'm obsessed with working on this one domain so much that I can't think straight to work on anything else while I wait
