Wordpress Users: Meta Plugin Thoughts?

So I have been running some blogs which have ranked great in google. However I am currently using no meta tags what-so-ever. I assume this is why I don't rank in yahoo or the others. I have seen a number of Wordpress Plugins for meta data, But I was looking for feedback from others who have already experimented with them. Basically, I don't want to lose what ranking I have in google by experimenting with plugins. Any suggestions? What have you seen the best results from? I know there are numerous options, I'd just like to choose the best from the start. Thanks in advance for any input that you can offer! :thumbsup

meta description is all what you'll need as keywords are ignored by google and started to get ignored by msn and yahoo too.
Head-meta description is the plugin name i use on my blogs.... it's great cuz it grabs few words from your posts and make desc of them, hence making every post unique with description. It also allows you to write your own desc for posts.

All in all for me desc. is must have :thumbsup

Hope it helps

I've been looking at Headspace and SEO Title Tag, trying to decide the same thing.

I have a friend who uses Headspace and gets pretty good results. I used SEO Title Tag for a bit but wasn't all that pleased with it.

Thanks, This time around you were much more helpful :) Any experience with others? Or was this your first choice?

Well see I am only looking for a plugin to create my meta tags, My title and everything else is exactly where I want it. The "All-In-One" makes me assume it will try to modify more than my meta tags. Thoughts?

Bump :thumbsup

To be honest, your post seemed to asking if Meta tags were worthwhile, hence my reply.

As far as why we choose the plugins we do, that isn't my department.

Description is valuable since it's used as the blurb in the SERPS. As for key words forget them. If you buy the SEOMoz crew's advice they leave out the keywords because it doesn't affect rank plus it gives out competitive intelligence i.e. what keywords your site is trying to rank for.

That is one of the dumbest things I have heard in a long time. :2 cents:

Yup it will do more than just your tags but you can disable the functions (or live blank) you don't care for. Better yet, you can disactivate all your other SEO plugins and only use this one and sitemap :winkwink:

Well they aren't exactly plugins, Just modifications i've made to make the template more SEO friendly. Including the title and such so I don't want to risk any of that changing as it is exactly where I want it. All I need is meta description :P
