Pigshit. The proof is in the pudding...Iran could not kick Iraq's ass in years of war. In the 1st Gulf war we kicked Iraq's ass in six weeks of air war and one hundred hours of ground war. In the 2nd Gulf war we defeated Iraq's military and overthrew their government in 24 days. Just as Iraq presented no contest the same applies to Iran.

I randomly had fox news on earlier, and right after I read this article I heard Hannity say something like "when we come back, why the time to deal with Iran is now." So I'd say there is some truth to this article:

Why do you keep comparing Iraq to Iran? I know they are only 1 letter different, but it's comparing apples to oranges. Most of the original Iraq military were forced into it, and gave up because they wanted to be freed from it. The real military (the people of Iraq) are kicking our asses as we speak.

Exactly...the Iran/Iraq war was a text book example of how NOT to fight a war. Iran would have been defeated easily had Saddam not stopped short of advancing directly into Tehran, which he did only because he was a clueless tool that lacked even basic military strategy. Then Iran's only strategy was to send wave after wave of their young people into suicide attacks of Iraq's front line.

Another ignorant statement. We are trying to stabilize Iraq now, and that is why we are subject to guerrilla warfare from the dissidents. I don't believe for one second we should have ever invaded, but if we decided to end the problem we could level the whole country in no time.

The article you linked is 7 months old. The political climate has slightly changed & I don't think war with Iran is imminent.

It won't be pretty. Iran is much bigger than Iraq, and has a stronger military.

I don't have the answers to any of this crap. The news is all about doom and gloom in Iraq yet if you look at it closely.... Other than car bombs targeting innocent people (meaning non military), IEDs, and a handful of mortar attacks.... There isn't much going on.

You damn well know the US wants a full time base in the Middle East.... Maybe... just maybe..... All of this is hyped so that we stay in Iraq.

Iraq = A country which has been under heavy sanctions for YEARS, oil for food program etc.

Iran = A country who has not been under sanctions, which has given them the possibilities to buy weapons.

Ofcourse in the long run the US would beat Iran, there is no doubt.
Question is, how much is the US willing to pay to go to war with iran and why would the US do it? Iran is no threat to the US.

The war should be moved to Israel, the only country right now in the world who is a threat. Thats where the bombings should start.

The US would get their asses handed back to them on a platter if they tried to invade Iran. The ONLY chance the US could ever win is by using nukes and other WMDs. Even if they did that though, they'd still be fucked, because all of a sudden there'd be dirty bombs going off all over the place in the US.

Plus no nation in the world is stupid enough to back the US anymore in another pre-emptive invasion, so they'd be going at it alone. That, and there's a decent chance all of Iran's buddies would jump in, because they'd all be scared they're next, and we all know what happens if the US "liberates" you.

Then again, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the neo-cons actually want this, and are delusional enough to go for it. You know, nuclear war, re-instate the draft, martial law, and all that good stuff that comes with it.
