just a little example - numbers are not totally correct:

lets say a scene costs $1500, 3 years ago that were about 1300 euro. models costs about 500 euro

today that is 1070 euro - and the model costs went up to 650 euro


and then people complain why i dont shoot b/g scenes for 1000 bucks :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

from now on i will calculate my prices in euro - and the USD can go fuck itself

and btw - we're are booked until 2011 anyways - with euro clients :pimp

Eight years of bad decisions and bad planning helped crash the dollar, some were the presidents fault and many were completely unrelated. He's pretty much been printing out money to cover his little 500 billion dollar war project, that's one big reason we can pin on him.

Cheaper for us to buy those services now too ;) Although our paycheques are less... We're going to see a lot of rising prices in the US very soon on imported goods, and the US imports a hell of a lot.

It isn't that the Euro is strong, as it is relatively in the same place against most other major currencies in the world. The issue is that the US dollar has dropped like a stone in value against 15 or so of the most widely traded currencies.

It isn't a European issue, it is a US issue.

It won´t affect uS productions at all, as long as they are working in the uS completely. if they go abroad and hire some European talent and maybe do the shooting there, they will have the same problem as Stefan has.

As long as your assets and liabilities are in the same currency then the fluctuations don't matter....so long as inflation at home is tame.

unfortunately it's a bit more complicated now. of course i understand a client who says "he, i always paid that much, why is it my problem now?". but in the current situation exclusive production at the same prices than 3 years ago makes absolutely no sense for us anymore. i'm not working my ass off for 100 bucks a day - and no one of you would do that either. it's sad, but blame Mr. Bush for running the US economy down the shitter (see http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...881433621.html for example)

Well we've seen energy prices more than double and haven't had an inflation problem.

China's currency is pegged to ours, so when ours goes down so does theirs...so no inflation from Chinese imports either.

I really don't see an inflation problem or a recession in the next 12 months, and these are things I watch very very closely. :2 cents:

Don't worry about the dollar losing value. The Federal Reserve will simply print more money to compensate for it - as they have done the last 30+ years.

The bubble will not burst - it would cause a global collapse so most countries will do all to keep the dollar artificially up.

yes - the shop will be still in USD, but the scenes we shoot exclusively are mostly in a similar scheme (unlike Max Candy :winkwink: ) - and i know what my costs are. and i know what i need to get to make this worthwhile for us.

as i said: i don't need new clients for exclusive content, i have the freedom to accept whatever makes sense for us :)

if you don't like the USD stance, either stop doing business with US customers, or stfu and move to USA because its getting sickning seeing 100 threads every day "ZOMG THE USD IS SHITTY, LASTERYEAR I WAS MAKING $16000 FOR EVERY $1000USD I GOT AND NOW IM GETTING $7000 FOR THE SAME AMOUNT!!!!
