1and1.com 1&1 INTERNET, INC. ripped me, stole my domain name, stay away!!
so i registered a domain name along with 3 others a few days ago 20.sept, my card was charged for $6, so i thought it is for the .com domain which i registered 1st, and the other 2 .net will be charged , too. the next morning i got a f-ing suprise, typed the 1st address in my browser, the domain i tried to register was registered with somedy else on 21. sept - a day i registered it through 1and1.com some link farm link, so i freaked out and checked with godaddy the other 2 were still not processed, I just registered the domains with godaddy and the they were processed in a few minutes and i could already start using them. at least i did not lose them.. after a few hrs(24hrs since the registration) i got a mail from the security staff that my card could not be charged and all that shit....
that my accnt was not activated and nothing will be charged if i don't dont send them a passport copy and so on, but why the hell was my accnt charged for $6 then?? just doesn't make sense. so it turns out like this - they stole one of my domains, charged me some mystical fee altough they said that my accnt is not even activated and will not be charged, i could easilly lose the other 2 domains if i did not register them with godaddy as they were still free 24hrs after registration and any of their agents or anyone else could grab it, so all i can say is, stay away!! It is a big company and after I saw their ad on PC magazine Februarry 2007 edition, I never had any doubt that they are a trustworthy business. But turns out that they are not, after the problem yesterday I found 100s of complaints about their ways of business just searching google a few minutes - also about charging people for no reason, charging people for no reason months after they have stopped to use their service and many more... I am sure the net is full of 1000s and 1000s of more http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/...Off0268739.htm http://www.hostsearch.com/review/1&1...ltd_review.asp http://www.webhostingjury.com/reviews/1and1 http://www.webhostingtestimonials.co...eviews-ratings http://www.wolf-howl.com/reviews/1an...hosting-sucks/ http://1and1sucks.info/Blogs/mode=display/id=1.html so I have understood, you get waht you pay for! wanted the cheap way, got it the cheap way... Stay away! |

1and1 sux, nothing new :)
Register your domains with Namecheap or Moniker. |
Yes, Trax, the guys who own the company, who have all they money, of course they did not steal it, but someone of their fucking employees.
I do not think this employee got lots of money, as their " so called thechnical support" is based in Philipines and may be also some other South East asian country. Did the owners move it to Philipines to make the employees rich there?? No, they did it almost for the same reason why some tourists go to Thailand every year... Yes, and I do highly believe that one of this "superrich " employees who had access to my info, stole my domain. And now he is proudly driving around with his Lamborgini wreck tied to a ghoat with my stolen domain in his trunk... be real, man... I give only 1% chance that someone else managed to grab it before me (about 12 or more hrs after I already had it registered with 1and1.com ands my cc was charged??) because of their lack of organization and the chaoss going on in the company. It might be a big company, but it is a giant on clay legs. Also - English is not my native language, so I really do not understand why are some people here quoting one of my sentences all over this thread, I agree that some of my sentences can sound a little funny to someone who is from an English speaking coutry, but whatever, it is your choice how you waste your time.. And don't take my word for it, just read the links I pasted or make your own search. So much bad reviews just do not come from nowhere. I barely could find a few short good reviews in the ocean of shit about them. And as I said, it can be a big company, it can have half of world' s money behind it, but it is gonna go down sooner or later. Because the guys who own this have no control of what is going on, probably have no interest to change anything, probably have selected the wrong business and are absolute amateurs in this, and most likely they check what's going on in the company a few times per year giving free hands to idiots like the one who stole my domain. a service company with no service:))) sounds funny to me Quote:

LOL..
Ok, get a grip.. The $6 that was charged on your card was a refundable card verification.. 1and1 did not steal your domain, nor did anyone from their staff do so.. that is just your conspiracy theory... What actually happened was while they were processing your account, someone else registered the domain.. I have registered over 120 domains with 1and1, NEVER had an issue with them except one time when registering a domain that a domain kiter kept re-registering, but in the end, I snagged that.. Yes, they are not the fastest when it comes to domain registrations & it takes up to 24 hours for new domain registrations to be completed.. I've been hosting with them since June of 2006 with a total downtime of less than one hour.. (with the exception of 24 hour outage when they billed my epass & got declined because I changed address on epass & it was a holiday & I couldn't get them to turn back on til Tues morning..)... Don't worry about your $6.. it is a refundable test transaction to verify the validity of your card... For $20 a month, I get 300 gigs storage with 3000 gigs bandwidth with 100 mySql databases AND 5 free domains when signing up with them for this package.. They also gave me vouchers for adsense, yahoo ads, msn & some other pps totalling over $500+ worth of ppc ad buys... I also got free magazine subsciption to revenue magazine, web marketing & other SEO magazines... They also gave me free software & some other stuff.. They have one click instant blogs.. tons of install on demand cgi Alot of extra shit included too.. Sorry you lost the domain, but looks to me that someone registered it before 1and1 processed your account... About your other claims, & the links you posted.. I did not click to read the links, but have to say.. I NEVER been over charged, nor have they EVER billed me early.. NEVER been charged for domains I cancelled, NEVER had problems trying to transfer domains in or out of their service.. I have no complaint with them, other than they use outsourced tech support that speak broken accented english.. Anyone wanting to get hosting or domains with 1and1, click here & get an account I'll be happy to answer anyone's questions 348-132-803 |
never bought from them and I guess now I never will.
|
that sucks... next time use better registrar, I recommend for example webair or moniker
|
1and1 did nothing with your domain
im with spacedog id prefer 1and1 over namecheap or worse: godaddy every day whatever happened to you... i am sure it wasnt 1and1 |
Dont forget moniker is still number one in domain fields.
|
|
Webair, Moniker & Namecheap....
3 of the best registers I use never keep all your eggs in one basket. p.s. - if you chose your register based on an ad on a magazine you are a fucking noob. no offense personally. |
I had a domain I registered in 2004 with 1and1 stolen from me.
I don't know how it happened but it is gone. In contacting 1and1 they somehow don't have any records of it now. Definitely a technical staff theft. |
yes, that is just what I am saying, Pornwolf. and I still believe that just the same happened to me.
Just too many bad reviews out on the net, too many to still trust a company like this, but I am happy I learned my lesson without losing more than just one domain (altough it was a really good one) and will not experiment with valuable domain names in rip off places like this. Quote:

i have hosted with 1&1 for years , never had a problem.
as mentioned the $6 fee is likely a verification type fee. stealing a freshly registered domain is practically worthless , all they would be doing is setting themselves up for a lawsuit. they are a HUGE company though so problems do happen. If it was a new domain not something someone would have just happen to create the same day , its possible it was just a tech glitch and the software bought the domain , glitched then checked again and the domain was sold ( to themselves by mistake ) it will likely go back up for sale after the "domain taste " is over |
1and1 does steal domains
The same thing has happened to me. If you do a domain name search through them and don't buy it then, it will be gone. I've been with them for almost 3 years, so I know. They have very poor customer service and poor billing practices. The donwtime is not bad, but the service stinks.

That's fucked up....

that sucks man
