Who is going to Island Gathering 2007, Also question on Curacao ?
 

Looking forward to going their, my first time. Is US dollars accepted in Curacao or do I have to change it into EUR at the airport. Does US ATM cards work their ?

ATm cards using the supporting network would work (e.g. cirrus etc - check the machines), credit cards are the best bet usually.

I've never been but i've travelled abroad.

Island Gathering rocks, although I have to skip this year.

If at same hotel, casino there that will advance on credit cards and ATM accepts Vias/mastercard wihdrawls as per normal.

International Banking is a big industry in Curacao, all the bells and whistles available.

PornoPat would be the man on the spot to ask - he lives there.

USD is pretty much accepted everywhere in Curacao for anytime you need to spend cash. But like Craig said, everything is literally taken care of so I'd be surprised if you need to spend cash.

Jay...

First, Curacao is not on the EURO, it is still on the Netherlands Antilles Guilder (ANG).

Second, while your USD will be happily accepted anywhere, be careful as most people will try to take liberties in "rounding" the conversion. Of course, with the USD in as bad a shape as it is now it will be harder to do that, but you should beware.

Lastly, my suggestion is to just wait until you get to the Marriott and use your ATM card to access Guilders from the machine that sits directly outside of the casino. It will give you the best exchange rate and you will have some Guilders in your pocket while you are there.

Another note...unless it has changed since I was there the casino runs everything in USD.
