Canadians: How do you buy stocks?
 

Im with a small bank in western Canada.. and I havent really gotten involved before..

With what company do you guys buy your stocks?

I should note, the money is currently in a corporate business account at the bank that I want to invest with :)

I use Etrade Canada. You can fill your account with a check or direct withdrawl.

I use RBC Direct but their fees are a bit high. I have heard good things about Etrade Canada

I use to call my stock broker boyfriend, but now I just use my bank.

I'd recommend BMO Investorline if you want to trade on your own and BMO Nesbitt Burns if your looking to get serious about your future and want to put together a financial plan that encompasses more then just stocks.


A bit of advice. If you talk to a investment rep or investment advisor and they start recommending investments before they've even found out anything about your financial needs and future goals, head for the door.
