Adult Webmastering 101: Writing A Basic Blog Post
As always, these Adult Webmastering 101 tutorials are aimed mainly at new webmasters. So, such as in the case of this tutorial, they can be very basic.
No doubt most of us know these things but I deal daily with new webmasters that are looking for starting points and how to write a blog post is once of the ones I get all the time. So, that is the theme of this week's tutorial. More tutorials and promotion tips can be found in my Adult Webmastering 101 blog that is located in the resource section of the Max Cash affiliate area. ==== A new webmaster these days could be forgiven for thinking that every adult webmaster is blogging and if you are new to now only adult webmastering but blogging then it can all feel a bit intimidating. You can feel that you should already know the very basics of blogging and are afraid to ask. I know that I am often asked to help a new affiliate learn just how to write a blog post. So, this week, I am taking things very basic and giving an idea of how to write a very basic blog post. It is important to note that there are many different ways to format your posts and webmasters will have to play around with the style that best converts on their traffic. So, I am just going to show the basic structure of a blog post that has proved profitable for me. There really is nothing at all fancy about it but it has worked for me. To build this blog post I am using Wordpress. I host all my own blogs and I know that hosted blog services work very well for some but since I host my own I think it is best to stick to what I know when writing a tutorial. The first thing I have to decide is which site I am going to be promoting in my blog post. Essentially, this matches the theme of my overall blog. I have a couple 'general' blogs but they were all in the first batch of blogs that I built and I really have found it better to stick to one niche per blog. For the purposes of this example, I am going to decide to write a blog post for one of my lesbian blogs. So, I go to my sponsor, in this case Max Cash, and I check out which lesbian sites they have. For this post I am going to go with She Likes Girls. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...cking_site.jpg Then I go to the hosted gallery section to pick out an important aspect of my blog post - the picture. Because Max Cash offers a large hosted thumb (320x240), I am going to take advantage of that and use the hosted thumb so that I don't have to use my own bandwidth. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...king_thumb.jpg I simply looking at a variety of the galleries until I find the big hosted thumb that I want to use in this lesbian blog post. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...mb_preview.jpg Now that I have my basic tools, I fire up up wordpress and go to the 'write' section. From there I start by writing the title for my blog post. The blog post title should always relate to the actual picture that I am going to use. I try to make the title sound 'juicy' and to the point. I don't want it too short but I don't want it extra long but either way I want some keywords in there. Then I move on and write the text for my blog post. In many ways this part is probably the most important part of the blog post because even if a good majority of your blog surfers skip over it to look at the picture you are still talking to the search engines as you write. Remember, a lot of blog traffic is search engine traffic. So, court that search engine traffic with the text of each blog post and give the teeth of the search engines something to bite into. When I am writing the blog post text I want it keyword rich while describing what is going on in the picture. I find it helpful to take a look at the picture and then create a little story about what is happening and then describe that short story in the blog post. This helps to keep me thinking of keywords when I write but also it helps me to stay sounding conversational when I write and not overly spammy. I like to have chunky text in my blog posts because I have found that to help me with search engines. Other people do fine with just a line or two of text but I like to have at least one long paragraph or two shorter paragraphs. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_1.jpg Then the next thing that I have to do is add my picture to the blog post. So, I go back to the tab where I have the hosted thumb that I want to use and copy the url. Then I click on the little picture icon (circled in red) which will open a popup window. I paste the url of the hosted thumb into img url field (also circled in red). Then, I just fill in an image description in that field and click 'insert'. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_2.jpg Now, I have to link up that picture. There are some choices to make at this stage about where I am going to link the picture to. Some people would link that picture to the hosted gallery that the thumb came from and other people would link it to an FPA they made (as described in a previous of my tutorials). I have found both of these methods to work but today I am going to use what works the best for me and that is linking directly to the site. So, I go back into the Max Cash affiliate area and grab my link code for She Likes Girls. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_3.jpg I copy the link code and then go back to my Wordpress post. Once there, I click on the picture and then on the little link icon which will bring up another popup. I paste the link code into the link url field, put a description into the link title area and then click 'insert'. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_4.jpg The finishing touch of my blog post is to add a text link under the picture. I started doing this from pretty much my first blog post and it has worked well so I just have kept doing it. I just put a really simple link where I say something like 'click here to see more of this lesbian action....'. Then, I highlight that portion of the text and, once again, click the link icon and repeat the action of pasting in the link code. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_5.jpg Then I like to beef it up a bit by making it larger. So, I click on the 'code' tab and go into the html version of the post. Then I just add the font tags to my link. http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_6.jpg Then I click the 'publish' button and my post is done! I just load up my blog and have a look at the completed post that would look something like this: http://www.emailerotica.com/tutorial...log_post_7.jpg As I said, this is just one way to do things and it is just a basic blog post. However,as a new webmaster even the basic can be daunting and hopefully now it is a little less so. |

If you try our plugin you can find out that building galleries in WordPress is a very simple process which can be done in two clicks. You don't have to link anything manually. Everything is done automatically. Thumbs are autogenerated, autocropped and you can get a working gallery withing two seconds. Many people use it and I recommend it too.
