and find yourself getting looks for not training them properly, when really they are fucking stupid and lacking any shred of common sense?

I believe the management adage "there are no bad employees, only bad training and bad management" but jeezus fuck... when the other 2-3 in the training group are doing ok and you can't even keep simple shit together and pass on a message...

Be the boss and put some restrictions like ... no ipod at work?

true.. could put dpwn rules
but if you not a boss/manager/supervisor, and just train them.. then you can't really say shit. I know.. been there.. till I just said fuck it.. it's not worth the hassle. Find someone else to train them

Show her what she needs to know............... If the dumb ass isn't paying attention, so what, it is her job to pay attention.

Show her and walk away and when she falls on her face be thankful and when she claims you didn't show her you can claim that you did.

You can make a checklist of things and have her sign it and there will be no doubt you showed her.

My take is that you have yet to assume the role of her supervisor ... hell, she wouldn't be using her iPod at work while I am around...

If it didnt' interfere with her work I'd have no problem but that not being the case I'd be all over her ass.. and not necessarily to bang it...
