I have just moved to Spain and Google, AFF etc. think I am in Spain and give me spanish content - other than using a proxy how can I get around this?

Hey how are the woman there?
|
yeah .. geoip :) well on sites as google you can just type google.com or .co.uk and they will open the English version
|
Strange, don't seem to have that problem here...
Usually I can always choose what language etc. I prefer. If everything else fails - set up a VPN on one of your servers, or use a VPN Service, they usually are not that expensive. ch33rs |

there is a link on google search page:
Google.com in English click on it and it will set an English cookie for you. |
use webproxy http://proxy.org or use http://www.google.com/ncr for me it switches to english version ... but not sure how it works ;)

btw how many square meters? 400 euro per month sounds really cheap for such an apartment though, especially in a place which is warm most of the year and isn't in a bad neighborhood :winkwink: but i assume you need an extra 100 euros for bills? got any pics perhaps? i could move there as well, although not too close to you :winkwink: |

From what you are saying a proxy system may be the only option
|
You have option to choose for language, but http-tunnel is the best solution for what You need, just pay 5 bucks per month and You have done.
it's still counted as a proxy thing, but at least You don't need to set any proxy. http://www.http-tunnel.com chears. |

Firefox will have a tendancy to serve shit in spanish, while IE tends to stick to english.
As posters have pointed out though, VPN or proxy are your best bets, with VPN being the better of the two. |

do you have pictures of your place? 3 bedroom for 400 euro?
how do you like living there so far? where did you come from, UK? |
400 euros for 3 bedrooms? WOW, that sounds great

Easiest way is to pay a tech $10 to setup tinyproxy on one of your US based servers and setup a restricted US proxy allowing access to your spanish IP. Dealing with public proxies really aren't worth the trouble obviously.

I actually do have sea veiws, but they are distant from the back balcony - nice sitting out there with the laptop. The weather I would guess is like north Florida without the humidity and hurricanes. Ross.... I havnt seen 'The Dubliner' up here - is she on the south of the island? |

VPN on my US server is the way to go I think....... Any recomendations for setting this up - its new to me? |
Naw, the UK was my big move and I actually like it here. I don't speak Spanish and don't want to be one of those people that never learn when they move to Spain. Heck, it has taken me thing long to learn British English :)

You in the South? Not in PLA for 400 p/m surely? I've been in Tenerife 8 years and would never return to the UK. I get pissed off with the geo sites that don't have an English option, usually just shut them down and look elsewhere. They don't seem to realise the amount of English speaking people that live in non English speaking countries. |
