Alex Rodriguez tells Yankees he will opt out of contract..
Rodriguez opts out of $252 million, 10-year contract with Yanks
DENVER -- Alex Rodriguez opted out of his $252 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees on Sunday in what appears to be the end of his career with New York. Rodriguez's decision, announced by agent Scott Boras during Game 4 of the World Series, makes him eligible to become a free agent. Rodriguez loses the final $72 million in guaranteed salary in the contract, of which $21.3 million was to be covered by payments from the Texas Rangers to the Yankees. New York had said it would not attempt to re-sign A-Rod if he opted out. Boras said during a telephone interview Rodriguez made his choice because he was uncertain whether Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte would return to the Yankees. "Alex's decision was one based on not knowing what his closer, his catcher and one of his statured pitchers was going to do," Boras said. "He really didn't want to make any decisions until he knew what they were doing." Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press |

Good they need to get their act together and get some young bloods... Too many egos & not enough hustlers on the Yankees right now...
FUCK AROD... hes useless when it counts. We can go out and get 2 players who will produce at least a LITTLE when its on the line. Hes sports biggest choker in the clutch.
Oh well he chokes during the playoffs
Where ever he goes his contract should include a "choke-clause"
too bad the yanks won't even make it to the playoffs without him
s=Screw a-rod he is not a winner!
thanks for infos
awwww, no more pig-pile sleep-overs @ Jeter's.
SB |
he can't take the heat

To give A-Rod some credit, he had better numbers this past postseason.

I have to agree, he was great to watch in pinstripes, but he just never fit in on that team. The Yankees will pay Mike Lowell and get a replacement at third base that wants to play third. In the long run I think the Yankee's will be better off even though I would have loved to see him shatter Bond's HR record in Pinstripes. |
Hes only good in the regular season
with the money saved we can get some PITCHING
What an asshole, announcing during the world series instead of next week sometime. Fucking attention hound, it's not like the 5 or 6 general managers that might be interested wouldn't know his status.
