Strange, I was surfing his site, and then I go back to a page and it's hacked. That's never happened to me before. Where a site I was visiting got hacked as I was there.

Most likely an older version of wordpress that was vulnerable. I had some issues with 2.2 when it first came out. Had about 5 blogs get owned by some script kiddie.

just talked to my host

it had nothing to do with wordpress

I had a copy of this on my server - http://www.phpfaber.com/i/products/urlinn/ - and they used urlinn_includes/config.php and exploited my server

natnet was on them pretty quickly and had it under control

nope, as I said it was a counting script I used for my sig a while back

nice try, but it had nothing to do with wordpress

yes, it is what a real host does when one of their servers gets hacked ;) :thumbsup

I decided to sit down with an ages old book on hacking...

I was surprised about how much of the topics they hit on in the book still work to this day...

oh and how they can know that your server was hacked? they are monitoring all their custommers? this is what i dont get ... ;) and sorry for late email, i have everyhing in my brain but everything need time, better wait till send out something not working ;) wish you less hackers and all the best in your music biz! :thumbsup

yes, my host has monitoring on all servers, they detected the intrusion and took action

I betcha Jace got more traffic today that he was hacked than he gets in a week when fully running. I should try that myself one day :D

Jace, if you haven't done, it I would recommend getting rid of wordpress 2.2.2 - I saw something the other day that makes it SUPER vunerable.
