can someone PLEASE tell me what this is....

I am finding these disgusting bugs in my apartment sporadically, and i don't know what they are?!?!?

I first saw little baby ones come up thru my drain; used draino a few times and never saw them again. Now i'm seeing full grown big ones here and there zipping by.

I'm from toronto, moved to LA over a year ago and we certainly do not have these kind of bugs there.

I am soooooooooo creeped out - *SHUDDER*

Can someone please tell me what they are :helpme

as jace said its a cricket.
They can and will eat flesh, but alas they are primarly just fucking annoying as hell. Specially when they start chirping.

I say get a bug bomb or some killing gell.

F-U-Jimmy 10-30-2007 09:38 PM

This is why you do not kill the spiders around the house.

You are lucky it has not started chirping. There are few things as annoying on this planet than 1 fucking cricket somewhere in your damn house rubbing its damn little legs together making that gawd awful chirping noise. The damn noise even seems to come out of thin air as a ventriloquist near the cricket. So you think it is one place and its actually a few feet elsewhere, and then the damn thing goes silent. Then it starts again and you never sleep.

Jace 10-30-2007 09:47 PM

if you think that is crazy then you need to move to georgia or florida, we have bugs down here that would make that bug look like a teddy bear

we woke up one night at a friends house to find a wolf spider on our bed...ever seen one of those? scared us to death

UGH...that would be like tortue, don't know what would be worse, seeing those creepy things in my place or having to hear it 24/7

so maybe it isn't a cricket - cuz i've seen these things for a few months now, and never one chirp??

found this, and as I am colorblind I can't tell what color that insect is that you posted, but this fits

Quote:

Kamadouma has brown to dark reddish brown body. They are about the size of average "Koorogi" (crickets/wild crickets) . They do not have any wings even when they fully grown. They have round back as if they are mixed creatures between giant pill bugs and skinny hunchback cockroaches. They have very long antennas and back legs. They jump extremely high but with no sense of direction when disturbed. They love dark wet places. They are the "water bug version" of crickets. They can be breaded in the same manner you breed crickets in a tank with secure top lids.

Once, when I was in FL, I was under the influence of a couple micro dots and was outside having a cig. We saw a big ass spider on the roof above the smoking area, so I hit it with a lighter real quick and it dropped to the ground. About a minute later a fucking bird flew by and scooped that shit up with out even stopping. It was pretty crazy.

Miss jody if you can find the poison gell they have at hardware stores. It will not matter if they live next door or whatever. Your house will get them all as they eat the food and it kills their repoductive system. Just place around any cracks in the cabinets and such that have water pipes or are damp.

thanks for all the advice - much appreciated!!
i will go get the gel tomorrow and put it everywhere!!

again - thnx :upsidedow

Jace 10-30-2007 10:40 PM

we got that gel shit for ants and god damn does it work good

we live 2 miles from this place - http://www.doityourselfpestcontrol.com/ - and GOD DAMN is it a god send

that gel shit for ants is amazing, they come and eat it for like 12 hours, you let them be and don't kill them yourself, and they take it all back to their nest..within 24 hours every ant was dead and we had no more trails

D 10-30-2007 10:42 PM

It's a cricket.

Used to get them in my brewery all the time...

typically, I would just scoop them up and toss them out... but every once in awhile, one would be chirping in a very hard to reach spot... so, lacking a better idea - in one of my crueler moments, I'd spray them with a douse of caustic potash.

15 seconds later, they didn't have legs to make noise with any more, and I'd rinse the remains away.

I'm probably going to hell for that.

Me & some friends were 15, planting a field of pot....scoping out some good spots. We found this beautiful little untouched oasis of sorts, next to a babbling creek, so zin. So we looked down with our shovels to get started, only to see millions of wolf spiders making up the entire ground beneath us.

I still have nightmares to this day.

Its a fucking harmless cricket.

Jennings 10-30-2007 11:26 PM

It's a male cricket. I had to do filming on crickets for a university for about 12 hours one time. Man that sucked.

Male cricket nothing more nothing less.
Female crickets are black or light brown and have 3 long rods.
Males are dark brown to light tan with shorter rods.

I didn't mention noise in my post anywhere. Unless you have sat with over 30 species of crickets and filmed them for 12 hours, move on to a different post.

And no, it's a NOT male, the female has 3 long prongs, the middle of which lays eggs.

Jace, usernames on this forum are very misleading. I regged here in 2001 and sold over 3 million images in this industry. I don't like you, I never have, you leave a bad taste in alot of people's mouths that KNOW you.

Sit down there in Tucker and just shush your mouth and reread what I originaly wrote.

That's why people don't like you, you are fast to hop onto anything even if you don't know what you are talking about.
