Content Management System Woes

I'm on my second content management system now, and both seem to be shit frankly. Buggy, frustrating and a waste of time so far.

Things work then don't work. Support doesn't respond after payment. Promises are made and broken over features.

I was promised a refund by the first cms company, as they said their software could calculate video duration over icq and email...yet once I paid the initial $650, had the software installed and training, they said actually that feature is 'not ready yet'. I'm still waiting for the refund check.

Disappointed. :(

Stay away from "unknown" software... Go for stuff that is already popular in the marked...

Awiz, sitedepth and nats should be pretty safe choices. Not perfect, but good enough

Have something custom written. If you need a programmer, I can give you the name of ours.

I am still contemplating if I should buy one from one of the big 3 (MAS, NATS, ElvX) or develop it using http://www.joomla.org/. The current customer i am working with cost is not much of an issue but adding new functions is key.

ADSinc 05-13-2009 10:24 PM

Joomla is the worst. Dont even consider it.

Its not a real CMS.

Man, it can be a nightmare. Hang in there.

AssPirate 05-14-2009 07:51 AM

or you can try AdultSiteCMS :-)

Sosa 05-14-2009 07:59 AM

Spend a couple grand if you can and get something custom wrote.

AssPirate 08-04-2009 10:01 AM

You don't need to spend a grand to get the best CMS around. Ours just cost below $300!

jay23 08-04-2009 10:06 AM

I am looking at 2 different solutions now

http://www.telerik.com/products/sitefinity.aspx and http://expressionengine.com/

Customization is the key for me.

Wizzo 08-04-2009 10:08 AM

Here's a out of the box thought, have you looked at tube scripts as a possible solution? :winkwink:

AssPirate 08-04-2009 10:10 AM

The CMS is completely customizable which is why we have it look this way. You have the ability to completely modify it anyway you want. We are currently developing some pre-made templates.

DonovanTrent 08-04-2009 11:03 AM

Resurrecting ancient-ness? :winkwink:

I use ElevatedX and heartily recommend it.

$tandaman 08-04-2009 11:38 AM

stop bumping old ass threads

AIbenjamink 08-04-2009 01:53 PM

Just stumbled on this thread, and figured I would bump it one more time for $standaman :)

You may want to check out our system, we offer a wide range of features, while still being completely customizable, without having to learn an entirely new template programming language.

Has been a while since I have cruised through GFY, but would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
