Yahoo Hates Porn

Last night, Yahoo reported a story last night about the "hidden dangers in porn."

In short, it notes that "one site" threatens to disable end-users' computers if the user signs up for a free trial membership - but doesn't provide any verifyable or researchable information.

Of course, it's not unexpected, and we all know things like this have happened before... But doesn't it seem just a teeny bit alarmist (not to mention irresponsible) to say "Online pornography hunters' Internet adventures are already fraught with danger from malicious code many porn sites use to commandeer visitors' machines or steal personal data....Now comes a scheme some researchers say amounts to extortion..."?

"Many porn sites," Yahoo!? Really?

**I'd post a link, but I don't post enough to be able to yet; sorry! Article title is "Hidden dangers in visiting porn sites" reported last night via AP.

they stink

who 11-29-2007 06:35 AM

This reflects the way the US government is run: "If you're not against porn, you're a sick pervert!"

CarlosTheGaucho 11-29-2007 06:50 AM

it's so sick an pathetic, it's like saying something like

- hahahahaha's have disabled mental functions

- beeing a gay is sick and against the god

- women should loose the right to vote because one of them is a millitant feminist and that's anti god

- people behind the iron courtain starve, live in poverty and envy the west (a very much used phrase before 89)

It has about the same informational value, well these things have been in the news and in vogue before...

WAKE UP AMERICA! it's 2007 DON"T be afraid of your OWN SEXUALITY!

Btw.

Liz How is it goin?
Pleasure meeting you in Amsterdam! :winkwink:

Hey, darlin'! It was great meeting you too - I was just talking to Nadia yesterday about all your exciting news, in fact ;)

Though I am pretty sure everyone behind the Iron Currtain was starving back then, right? I mean, PJ Rourke said so...

Yahoo doesn't report shit. That's an AP article. You actually think there are fucking Yahoo reporters somewhere that work for Yahoo that write news articles? Jesus Christ of latter day saints!

Its true that the US government does say those type of things and I do not agree with them but there are a couple of good points for our industry with this type of attitude.

The US makes us ashamed of our sexuality and porn as a taboo and therefore, people will by more online to keep it secret. Plus it creates barriers of entry into our industry which controls competition.

MediaGuy 11-29-2007 09:29 AM

It happens rarely that porn sites fug with my machine.

99% of all hijacks and trojans and malware I've ever gotten were from mainstream sites, and quite a few from sites for younger children. Parents shouldn't monitor their offspring's surfing habits for adult but for what an unsuspecting little one can do to his (or his parents') computer with indiscriminate clicking to these cute looking, "safe" sites...

They blame adult, but most of my spam, and my ant-spy, ad and viral-ware programs mostly block mainstream stuff... not adult, and we bathe in this stuff all day long...

Yes, and all Americans wear cowboy hats and look like Paul Newman :)

It's one of the silliest propaganda that I ever heard and that I face on a regular basis (well need to exclude Ceaucescu's Romania - that was really rough.. :winkwink:):

THE TRUTH is that those 40 - 70 years under the communist reign were much EASIER to live for MOST of the people!

- you didn't need to overperform
- you didn't need to have any ambitions
- there were no overtimes
- you were always employed
- you had your job, your flat, your cottage, your wife, your dog and your car (well you waited for a couple of years and it was a crap but there was noone you could envy a better car!)

The live has been good for most! Not for me as a person with ambitions I would always be a rebel and probably emmigrate soon but a regular Joe's? they never forget!

Take it or leave it, that's the truth, even the nowadays propaganda is to push the super western performance oriented style of life with no kids / silly sounding job title and bunch of loans and mortgages as the best what you can get..

Nadia is awesome! :thumbsup

no need to worry about that Liz..

CarlosTheGaucho 11-29-2007 01:17 PM

US media are way different than Europe for sure, I cannot imagine such a silly article around here.. well maybe in Germany.

Us and Germany are the two biggest porn markets in the world :)

I forgot to add two ESSENTIAL things:

- FREE UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
- FREE ( and a high level of ) UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

That is more or less kept by the date although there are "private" alternatives too.. what is more interesting is that paid = lower quality and lower demands, even idiots can get a degree on one of the new "private universities" that were started after '89

.. that's for a little off topic excursion behind the "iron curtain".. I guess it's one of my favourite topics..:2 cents:

Mistah Charlie 11-29-2007 06:47 PM

Yahoo's search is a joke. It is mostly paid inclusion.

Tempest 11-29-2007 07:57 PM

Just goes even farther to show that it's easy to demonize and further villainize an industry that won't stand up for itself for the most part.

It's hard to stand up for the industry, if you are on the same side of the barricade with people like Max Hardcore.. :2 cents:

Sex is one of the good things in life, I want it to remain like that, hate abuse kind of stuff..

You are right here, I thought about that too from that angle - if porn would be completely mainstream not only it would lost a part of its appeal but someone would kill the market..

..imagine literally Microsoft or such a huge company would start doing porn - we would all be fucked, they would most probably buy the biggest companies and created a monopoly to make it impossible to compete with.. :2 cents:
