Fucking Canada.

TORONTO - After years of warmer-than-normal winters that spurred constant talk of global warming, winter this year is expected to be the coldest in almost 15 years and should remind everyone of what real Canadian cold feels like, Environment Canada said Friday.

Yeah, Global Warming.

I've never had a good exeperience in Toronto for some reason. Just a string of bad experiences. Nothing to do with GFY though.

CDSmith 12-01-2007 12:07 PM

It's hitting into the -30 to -40 range with the wind chill at times here in Winnipeg lately.

Hard to give creedence to the concept of global warming when it's that cold.

Where the fuck is the warming? :D *

They've already changed their catch phrase to "Global Climate Change", because the original is already failing as a descriptor.

Don't worry, in 10 more years we'll be talking about how we're headed to another ice age, and someone will come up with a whole new set of theories and guesses as to how we can stop it.

miss_jody 12-01-2007 12:15 PM

i'm in toronto visiting now - pretty friggen cold!!
can't even imagine what jan / feb will be like

Global Warming is the biggest bullshit i have probably ever heard, what amazes me is the amount of idiots that hope on the "anything conspiracy" bandwagon.

WarChild 12-01-2007 12:24 PM

One of my dogs has never been around snow before. She left for Costa with me when she was a puppy in the summer. She got up this morning and growled at the snow.

Maybe if we step it up with producing greenhouse gas emitions we can stave off that ice age.

Viva la cowfarts!

Cold whether , warm whether I don't give a fuck, its canada you have to be prepared for the cold and the cold is not going to stop me from going to the GFY party.

so suck it up whether lots of warm clothes and hats, and gloves, and besides the cold won't last that time by april it will be all over.

so for a few months you have to deal with hot chocolate, leg warmers, wind breakers, and dry skin and chap lips.

No. For a few months I have to run in the fucking miserable wet cold, deal with shit heads who can barely drive in the broad daylight of August, never mind the dead of night in the snow and absolutely fucking worst of all I have to see retards in touques everywhere I go. Fuck.

Yeah, it's almost like we're not very good at predicting the weather. I mean, we can't get it right from week to week but we get worked in to a frenzy of fear over 10 year forecasts for global climate change? :1orglaugh

The question mark in the title of that piece denotes speculation, not fact.

But yes, weather patterns back then and even much farther back very well could indicate the coming of another ice age.

I'm sure when they say "coming" they don't mean in the next few minutes. Probably more like by the next century. (or possibly the one after)

Dude, haven't you been paying attention? There's no more ice age coming, that was just abad guess. No harm, no foul. We're positive this time, however, that all the ice is going to melt and mankind will be wiped out from the heat. This time we got it, it's not speculation, it's cold hard fact. Al Gore even said so.

I'd be easier to convince if it wasn't colder outside right now than it is inside the freezer I keep in the basement.

Our dogs like the snow surprisingly enough with the little amount of fur that they have. Only thing is the one of them has a nail that has split down the center, I think he did it himself because he bites his nails. So I can't really let him out in the yard until it is healed for fear of infection.

The first time they saw the snow when they were about 6 months old they were very cautious and curios as to what it was as well. From what I remember they also barked or growled at it.

Speaking of the snow in Toronto, my mom lives in northern Ontario on the north tip of Lake Superior. She said it started snowing a few days ago and that there is more snow there now than they had all of last winter. Which was one of the mildest winters they have had there in years.

As for global warming, well that`s just retarded, people always need something to worry about. Just because it is warmer one year than it was in the few previous years is just coincidental. Take for example the summer of 2006 was ridiculously warm, raining only once in a 6 week period then back to several more weeks of no rain. Then last summer (2007) it rained almost everyday. It has nothing to do with global warming it just happens to be warmer or colder at times. I could say that because last year on a certain day it was raining and this year on the same day it was not that it is global warming but that would just be retarded. It just so happens that some days are nicer than others for no particular reason at all.

I would honestly rather have it snow than rain though.

Shit, this is funny:

"Telltale signs are everywhere ?from the unexpected persistence and thickness of pack ice in the waters around Iceland to the southward migration of a warmth-loving creature like the armadillo from the Midwest.Since the 1940s the mean global temperature has dropped about 2.7° F. Although that figure is at best an estimate, it is supported by other convincing data."

I understand that was written in 1974, but now I'm confused? Are we getting warmer or colder?

tony286 12-01-2007 06:20 PM

Watched a show about global warming on National Geographic not some political hack. Getting colder than usual is part of it. For it to be a fraud there has to be a payoff and there is none except a cleaner place for all of us to live and less waste so cant see a fraud being created for that?

There's no pay off at all? Think a little harder. There are plenty of groups, foundations, organizations etc taking in huge amounts of funding to study Global Warming.

Of course you'll say that experts in their field that do NOT agree with man made Global Warming as a result of co2 emissions are taking pay offs from energy companies. Do you honestly expect that sword is only single edged?

It's not so much that it's a fraud. It's more like a leap of faith that this time we've got it right. When it comes to climatology, we've never been even close to right prediciting for the future. Why is it different now?

You've been sold the best guess of one group, a position not even globally accepted by experts in this field, as cold hard facts. Doesn't that piss you off?

Tempest 12-01-2007 07:45 PM

I've never believed that "global warming" means it's going to be hotter all year round... more like extreme seasons but with the over all result being warmer "on average".... but then again I tend to use my brain...

Why bitch and complain and whine... Getting on the global warming band wagon could make you rich... So get with the program... If you're young, you've got a shit load of massive oppurtunities right now... global warming... china... india... and of course the mortgage crash in the US... new billionaires are going to be made over the next couple decades so stop whining and get in there...

haha.. how about a global tax on Carbon that the UN will collect... Billions of dollars, coming from YOUR pocket ;)

No payoff? You must be kidding. Research. That's it right there. Research. Millions and probably billions of dollars worth of research. Where do you think scientists get their money? Somebody is funding them. And that just covers the scientists, the politicians get another huge round of payoffs.

Either way, I don't think it's fraud. I do, however, think it's being alarmist. I am all for creating a cleaner, more efficient, world... but I could do without the alarmist rhetoric and the holier than thou attitudes of many. We can all do our part, let's stop talking about it and just do it.

Anyway, where I am right now there has already been two snowfalls and right now I am snowed in. There hasn't been anything like this here since I was a little kid, not before Christmas anyway.

EonBlue 12-01-2007 10:32 PM

Global warming alarmism and the Kyoto protocol are the biggest scams to ever be forced on mankind.

There has been no warming since 1998 and we are probably going to be facing a slow decrease in temperatures from 2012-2015.

The current interglacial we are in has lasted 10,500 years - 500 years longer than average. We are overdue for an ice age.

Quote:

During the past 2 million years, there have been some 20 Ice Ages, each lasting about 100,000 years, interspersed with warm interglacials, the duration of which was only about 10,000 years. The last Ice Age came to its end about 10,500 years ago; thus, our present interglacial seems to be a bit longer than average. The new Ice Age looms in waiting, and whether it comes in decades, centuries, or even a millennium, is a matter of speculation. It seems that its inescapable advent will be induced by natural cosmic factors rather than by terrestrial ones. The hypothesis, in vogue in the 1970s, stating that emissions of industrial dust will soon induce the new Ice Age, seem now to be a conceited anthropocentric exaggeration, bringing into discredit the science of that time. The same fate awaits the present
CO2 folly.
There is an entire paper about it here.

To put it in perspective - the entire recorded history of civilization has occured in less time than the average interglacial.

And for all of the conspiracy theorists out there - there is a man mentioned in the article linked above named Maurice Strong. Do some research on him, you'll be amazed what you will uncover. :Oh crap
