Suggestions: Best car for your money for under $100K
If you were thinking of buying a decent (but not crazy) new set of wheels, what would it be? And, you want to keep it under $100K (or thereabout).
What would you buy? . . . . . . |
Cadillac CTS-V
|
Porsche Cayman Turbo. Handles better than the 911 but is just as quick and its styling is nicer.
|
I'd get Cadillac Escalade, fully loaded for like $70k
:thumbsup |
BMW m5 E39
|
BMW M6 Convertible.
|
that new Audi, awesome
|
iiiiiiiiiif, it's less than 100K, not sure

So far I'm thinking E-class, but I've had two Mercedes before (and loved them) , so I wanted to get some new opinions. look like it's a good choice either way. But I do love the cadi as well.
|
Why change from the make that's good?
$.02 |
Since I could care less about looks I would pick up one from www.theaircar.com Assuming I did care about looks well I could take about 80,000 of the remaining cash and let someone alter its looks for about 10-20k. Then well I could also buy another for the wife and do the same. Then still have enough to well put some nice generators at my house. Though I would save a lot more than listed cause like I said I do not care about looks. Yet I do think I would want the hybrid incase I did want to go somewhere a lot farther than I normally drive in my day to day life.

What do you drive now?

Five Toyota Camry's.
|
335I Coupe and put the other $55k elsewhere :)
|
97% of the people who posted this would be full of shit.
Since it's Ray, I won't be utterly amused. I like the new BMW's. A little sporty, a lot of room. Very comfy. Mercedes are good, but I think BMW is a little more bang for the buck. |
bmw x5 :)
|
Toyota Highland Hybrid.... then invest the other 60k AND the shitloads of money you'll save on gas....
ANY car over $50k is a total waste unless you enjoy throwing money out the window... If you have to have a fast sports car buy a Z-51 equipped 'vette around $45k on clearance ;) |
Lotus Exige S or Elise with plenty to spare for mods
http://www.lotuscars.com/ or the limited Type72 if you could get one... http://www.lotuscars.com/Type72.aspx Can't go wrong with the Corvette Z06 |
I just picked up a 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid yesterday. Never thought I'd be driving a truck, a toyota or a hybrid. List was just over $40k. You could pick up one of those and Vette and still be under $100k.

Another vote here for the E-class.
Speed and luxury in a good looking package. |

I picked up an BMW M5 a couple of months ago, absolutely INSANE acceleration and handling. Only problem is that it's sitting in my garage for the winter hehe! 507hp and snow don't mix ;) DH P.S. I picked it up for 81k Canadian fully loaded. |

Aftershock, where do you live? I am in Florida. After the bad hurricane seasons of a few years ago I decided to install a generator. A BIG one. I priced it from local stores like Home Depot. Then local dealers. All bids came in about 60-70k. I looked further and final cost was about 14k after some careful searching. It is a 44 kw model that can easily power 4-5 homes. I wanted the extra juice to handle my pool and hot tub and to make sure all the a/c units could power up simultaneously. Hit me up if this is the sort of thing you're looking at. The only downside is you have to get it off the truck (hire some local day labor) and hire your own electrician. All in all, a good deal for the savings, though. And it works like a charm. It self-checks every week and has a remote feature that emails or hits your cell-phone to let you know if it was activated, and fires up within 10 seconds or so of an outage. |

I have two things to say:
1-Thanks for the great suggestions. I have a bunch of cars to research now.:thumbsup you guys clearly have good taste. 2-For those of you that think $80-$100k is a lot of money, or are concerned with how I make mine, I feel sorry for you. Hang in there man, it'll happen for you someday if you really apply yourself.:2 cents: I had no idea the board was filled with either newbies, or failures. That's a shame.:( (hit me up, I'll give you career advice for free...just kidding, you are on your own).:helpme . . . . . . |
