Maybe they removed some footage on the new release but I remember them pulling it from all the stores.

They are offering more footage on "Banned from TV" DVD box sets, not chopping anything out. Its all there.

They even made a DVD about whether its real or not.

Video tapings of torture and death have been aroundas long as cameras I suppose, nothing man likes to see more than his own destruction or pain.

I only saw 1 of the tapes and the only scene I remember was the magician and the big ass spike block falling on his head lol,it looked so fake that it seemed real..figure that out!

I went to the movies to watch it. The people in the theatre were laughing histerically when someone got killed...then they show this guy skinning puppies and the whole theatre starts freaking and whinning. Too fucking funny

I haven't seen those in a LONG time! The only part that really freaked me out was the monkey brains thing. eek!

The Best Buy by my house has them..Faces, not Traces of Death

there are actually three series:Faces of Death, the original
Death Faces, a bad ripoff but better footage
and Traces Of Death which kicks ass because it has more commentaries...it also recreates a lot of shit (the bungee jumper who forgets about the lack of a 13th floor and makes the cord too long...

There are also some decent Asian titles like Inhumanities and Shocking Asia (the one that graphically shows the Taiwanese sex change operation).

Inhumanities is the one where they show the African witch doctor performing the brain surgery with bare hands and a knife, yet the patient suffers no serious infections...

it's been years since I've seen any of the "extreme" documentaries...going to have to re-visit a couple titles....

The "Faces of Death" movie series being pulled from shelves must be a regional thing, because I spoke with my neighborhood rental shop guy about 2 years ago regarding this very subject. I had noticed that he had an 8 volume set of these movies, and he kept them perpetually in the "new release" section (which is obviously more expensive to rent). I had also noticed on that particular day that they were no longer there, so I asked him about them. He told me that he kept them there because they were some of his all-time hottest rentals. They were no longer on the shelf because, well frankly the copies he once had simply "wore out" and he hadn't replaced them yet. They were rented to death!!

I remember back in the mid-80's getting hold of a really really bad copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy of the original movie from someone. It was supposed to be highly illegal back then, and I watched it. Staged or not, there were some pretty freaky parts to it. I thought the "virgin sacrifice" at the end was pretty lame though, although the girl was good looking.

Sounds like shit to me.

Which one had the footage in the beginning of the execution by handgun with the south american guerillas??? They blew the guys face off, the bottom half... that shit looked real as fuck to me. Two captors lead one guy with his hands tied behind his back to the side of the road, make him turn around, and just shoot him in the face. I saw shocking asia, too, and that one was worse, IMO.

I've seen all 6 rtapes, some are pretty disturbing. Some look fake fake too though.
