Cell phones ?
 

I'm interested in gettin a cell phone with a plan ... been looking around - but quite honestly I have no ideas about the networks, reliability and quality of US providers.

I went to several booths today at the mall, looked into Cingular, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon and gained the impression that ATT had the best bang for the buck. They offered me a $35 plan with 500 Anytime and 3000 N&Weekend minutes, no xtra roaming or long-distance charges. Another cool offer they had was a $99 GSM plan, unlimited everything !!! But then again I won't use it that much.

Share you experiences with the providers please. I wanna get one tomorrow :thumbsup

I dont know which area you are staying in. Why dont you go with sprint. They have good service and nice plans.

I'm in the Columbus, OH area and I am actually not travelling too much. I heard a few bad things about Sprint, that's why I wanna stay away from them.

I use sprint and it does better then all my other friends cell phones

I'm with Fido... not sure if u guys have them in the states. Havn't had any problems with them yet.

Same here........ the cable guys came to work on my cable and all of them had cell phones........... mine worked better than theirs. They had Cingular and Verizon and I have Sprint.

I have been with Sprint for over a year and I love them......... JUST their cell phone service though...... their long distance sucks ass....... LOL

sprint has the worst coverage. At&t simply offers the best plans and coverage..although now cingular now has those rollover minutes

Have had 2 Sprint phones for about 3 years. I also setup a Nextel phone last year stricly as a business line which gives unlimited incoming calls. This has probably saved me $1000+ over 1 year.

It all depends on your needs. Both companies have been solid for me.

Well we don't have At&T yet here in the damn sticks so I can't speak about them.......... it may just be the area I live in, but Sprint is the only one worth a shit HERE............ I think I pay something like $35 for 3500 minutes a month, which is WAY more than I will ever need............ I am not a HUGE user of a cell phone, mostly for the family when I am out of the house.

I have heard excellent things about AT&T though and would try them if they came around here..... :)

I use sprint -- I don't like them that much but they're the only company in the area that has the color cell phones.

Sprint service works well but they love to throw in extra charges for *everything*. $1 to download a ringer, $1 - $5 to download a game, $3 to talk to a tech support / customer rep. If you change your plan you gotta renew your contract -- 2 years! You also gotta pay for PCS Vision which is another $10 a month -- this is for surfing the web and downloading stuff that you gotta pay for d:X

I can say though that the quality of the calls is *very very* clear!

I use the 4000 night and weekend and 500 anytime minute plan for $45 a month.

Stay as far away from SPRINT as humanly possible. The service is about the worst on the planet. I'm talkin 45 minute hold times to only get to a rep who is some black bitch who is pissed about making $7/hr and hates you. I thank the lord that my plan ends this month. These fuckers suck more than anything.

I think I may switch to cingular. Rollover minutes would be useful.

Oh My God! You dont have a cell phone? You are like... so uncool.

I totally love using my phone to like send text message to people when Im in a dance club. It's just sooooooo cool to do.

Or better yet, I just love being able to sit in a restraunt and talk to all my friends. This way im never out of touch with whats going on.

reminds me of a funny story a friend told me,

an old white lady wanted to speak to another rep
she was still frustrated and wanted to speak to the manager, Then she just got frustrated and yelled out

crazy thing was the first person she talk to was a white girl,,hehe
