BeCareful who you say "Merry Xmas to"
I went into pay for my petrol this morning at a local petrol station. I paid for my fuel and some sweeties and then said "thank you and Merry christmas", to the cashier. She then said "I am a Jehoh Witness and I so not celebrate christmas I wish people would stop being so childish about one day of the year!!" She then walked out into the back "staff only" area, leaving me and some other customers in stunned silence.
Maybe she should wear a badge or something!! |
Stupid bitch...

don't forget that Jews are also very belligerent

report her to the owner and get her fired. it's not even a religious holiday to 90% of people, like hundreds of thousands of other non-Christian people she should have just accepted the greeting graciously.

:disgust While I could give a flying fuck about the holiday in general. Or it's religious connotations. I agree with the above. I would complain to get her fired. |
Good grief. People just can't say "thank you" and move the fuck on?
|
that really bites i'd have knocked on the staff door told her to stick it up her ass and give her the finger before leaving
|
Stupid cow.
Christmas in the UK will be a thing of the past in a few years. Well, the way it's going anyway. We worry about offending the muslims (and yes they do complain), so have stopped a number of traditional things which take place year after year. If they don't like it, why the fuck are they here ?? |

I used to own a computer store and one year I put on the marquee "Merry Xmas" and you wouldn't believe the amount of mail I received from irate fundies telling me "JESUS CHRIST IS NOT AN X!!!!!"
I typed up a letter about the X being a form of the fish symbol of Jesus and crap and fired off a few to the looniest of the bunch. Of course I signed the letters "yours in Satan," |

The idiot should have just played along, what good does pulling shit like that do him?

Interesting. Some people are just sour. Considering she is a Witness, she is probably sour anyway and isn't allowed to be your friend. Which in itself is quite bizarre.
Anyway, I know that when Jewish people invite non-Jewish people over for religious type events... the guests often join in with the festivities and just have a good time with their friends. I really don't understand what the big deal is. There is absolutely no reason one cannot enjoy the festivities of their friends just because they don't share the same religious beliefs. It's a party. You celebrate. You have a good time. You have fun with your friends. It's that simple. |
I don't celebrate Christmas as well, but I'd not mind anyone wishing me.

I was going around yesterday wishing everybody "Happy Festivus". I got lots of laughs and chuckles. Some people knew others just didn't know how to respond.

As an X jehovah's witness and someone probably about to be flamed there is alot of misconception here.
1. Sh handled this in a non compliant manner with her religion. We are trained to be respectful of people and turn the other cheak if offended and a merry Christmas is not meant even as an office. If she handled it by the guide book (yes there is one) she would explain she was a witness and did not celebrate it. She would either then thank you for your wishes or preach to you about why she did not celebrate. 2. As for why they don't just play along or join in with the celbration is a matter of principal. True practicing jewish people would be going against there religion for joining in just as a christian playing with a dradel on Chanukah would. The fact that so many does is a proof of how serious people take religion anymore. Christmas is a pagan holiday in the belief of JW's and so to play along would be tantamount to blasphemy. So in short she acted inappropriately and maybe now also you can understand why they don't just play along. |
Just as many have pointed out, countless numbers of people celebrate the holiday who don't necessarily have religious beliefs tied to it. It used to be such a nice time of year, bringing out the good in people.
Now it seems that everyone is offended by something. Last year I posted a "Merry Christmas" thread on one of the boards (don't recall which one it was) and I had someone correcting/reminding me that I would have been better to post "Happy Holidays".... So it's happening more & more, and on an adult board even. I celebrate Christmas, therefor I say Merry Christmas! I welcome anyone to wish me a Happy Hannukkha or Kwanza, and I will gladly say "you too" or "thank you". Merry Christmas to everyone! I am going to bake cookies for Santa now :) |
