Yeah, and he's damn creative too, even Johnny Lee Hooker would be proud on his art of improvisation when he came up with the famous "Carlos The Gaucho" song..:pimp

I can still hold the bass line if you would need a bass player with a stellar drinking capacity, I don't have any Youtube video though since I stopped my regular playing before Youtube even existed..

ADL Colin 01-07-2008 02:55 PM

Yup, sure do. Rock solo shredder is prolly a good description. Don't play much anymore though.

Twisted Dave 01-07-2008 03:15 PM

Dont you love walking into a music store they have 100's of guitars and only four leftys in the whole place.

Dirty F 01-07-2008 05:01 PM

I play a bit not that good though. I started quite young and was really good for my age. Then at some point it just stopped. I have the feeling i still play the same as 10 years ago. Maybe its because i simply dont play enough. Played with some amateur bands in the past, during the whole grunge thing. Was fun, miss those days.

We did covers from AIC, nirvana etc. Just like every band in that time but still it was fun :)

rayadp05 01-07-2008 05:02 PM

I've been playing guitar, bass and singing for nearly 20 years now. The style that I have always played has been heavy/death metal. I've also been in bands that have played nightclubs and small to mid-size theaters too. I really miss being in a band but I get so busy with running my sites....I don't know if I would even have the time to do it.

Dirty F 01-07-2008 05:02 PM

At one point i owned like 10 guitars or so. When i was 16 i think haha. Also had an old drumkit at home...learned myself to play on it a bit.

Joe BrainCash 01-07-2008 05:03 PM

I'm a lefty bass player..I also play rythim guitar, but I approach it like a bass player would...

Check out my band: EVIL BOYS

Azlord 01-07-2008 05:05 PM

I'm back to playing again, this time around learning theory. Blues, rythm

teg0 01-07-2008 05:20 PM

Techie Media 01-07-2008 06:16 PM

I've been playing since I was 12 so for like 32 years now. Mostly Blues and southern Rock, 50's type stuff. Used to be in all kinds of bands but as life deals us all different cards, it's mostly just a old hobbie now.

Gibson Les Paul Custom 20th Anniversary and Music Man 410 HD I also have a 412 cabinet not shown in this pic. I'm the original owner of both and both are in Mint condidion baby:thumbsup

Is that a Rotovibe? if so, I have the same one

btw, I played for a long time, almost 20 years, I just left music like 6 years ago, although I've most of my instruments: Fender Jazzmaster (not the old ones, one of those cheaper Japanese ones), Ibanez Talman, Eko Laser from the 70s (italian guitar), Epiphone electroacoustic, a cheap acoustic guitar and 2 spanish classical guitars, and then my treasure: a 1967 argentinian guitar with Schaller pickups which was used in a famous film here in Argentina (Tango Feroz) and also was used in the first rock album in Spanish back in 1967 (Almendra). I also had a load of effects but now I only have a few boxes, a crappy Zoom multieffect, the above mentioned Rotovibe, Marshall Guv'nor and a Memory Man that is cool to have but hideous to use it, lol

I also have other instruments such as a cheap Yamaha bass, 3 keyboards (Yamaha CS1-X, Ensoniq ASR-10 sampler and a Korg N5), a violin (I don't know how to play it), some assorted ethnic percussion and stuff like that. I don't have any amplifier now, although my last ones were an original Twin Reverb and a 60's Farfisa italian amplifier. I used both of them thru some stereo box (sometimes directly from a Boss DD-2 Delay)

I did play a lot of styles, from classic rock to electronic and experimental music, but MY style is something hard, heavy and to the guts with some noisy experimental touch, say a mix between Zepp, Sonic Youth and Queens of the Stone Age.

With all that, I barely grab a guitar once or twice a year, lol :Oh crap

stickyfingerz 01-07-2008 08:02 PM

Havent posted my babies for awhile. Have played since 96 or so. Played keys and harmonies in a band. We toured most of the U.S. for about 3 years. Switched off to playing rhythm acoustic for quite a while after getting tired of doing keys all the time. Some of my babies.

Yes that sure is a rotovibe, kinda nice, I also have the original Cry Baby, and shit about 15 or so various different pedals of all types. I sure wish I could have time for a band again, those were the days, I was in a few very good bands back in the days.:pimp

Yngwie 01-07-2008 08:30 PM

oh and yes, I play a Strat.. A 1950's reissues. I used to have an Ibanex EX, a Marshall Valvestate 8080, a smaller Marshall amp and a Zoom effects processor. What happened to all that stuff? Well, a friend of mine was in a band and I lent them ALL the stuff except the Strat, but I never got the stuff back.

SO now I'm left with the strat and no amp or anything. I am NEVER lending a damn thing to anyone again. I've been ampless for over 2 years. Why didn't I buy a new one? Financial problems, but as soon as I sell my house I will be buying a new one and maybe even a new guitar.

I always thought he is a super narcistic jerk, and he probably was for a decent part of his career.. (well Ritchie Blackmore was always his idol..)

.. but once I saw him live in concert two years ago - it was such a surprise and he was the most amazing showmaker and entertainer I have seen in years and it rocked a BIG time.. Yngwie is a super guy in my book

Do you know how Yngwie Malmsteen got his name?

Taken from a Guitar World article....

In a different world, under different circumstances, the name Lars Lannerback would be known high and wide to aficionados of shred guitar. But in this world, things being what they are, it is Yngwie J. Malmsteen who holds pride of place among the virtuosi.

In the end, it makes no difference: Lannerback and Malmsteen are the same guy.

"I was born Lars Johan Yngwie Lannerback," Malmsteen fesses up. "But no one called me Lars during my youth. I was always called Yngwie.

"Malmsteen" He explains comes from his mother. "I took her maiden name and used it as my last name when she separated from my father, Leonard Lannerback."

The revelation ends more than two decades of secrecy, during which the Scandinavian guitarist has found fame and fortune as one of metal guitar's guiding lights.

There is more but I'm not going to type it all... buy the back issue of Guitar World... Oct 2006
