It's one of the most disgusting things ive seen lately.

Dirty F 01-09-2008 12:57 AM

The parts about how they promoted Bush and fucking dirtbag o'reilly are just insane. And thats happening in America. Not fucking China but America.

pocketkangaroo 01-09-2008 01:08 AM

I got it through Netflix awhile back. Crazy to see how they operate, although not surprising.

V_RocKs 01-09-2008 01:10 AM

Nice find Franck, Until a few years ago the amount of media outlets that could be owned by one person/corp was strictly regulated. Why the US rolled over for Murdock is anyone's guess .....

The favorable coverage and money donated would be my guess.

theking 01-09-2008 03:26 AM

Fox News is designed to entertain and push a conservative agenda. They only have one segment that...in my opinion...actually presents news in a reasonably unbiased form and that is the Shepard Smith segment. Fox News is capitalistic free enterprise at its best...or its worst...depending upon ones point of view. This is nothing new and is not disgusting if one believes in free enterprise and freedom of speech.

There are networks whose model is the same as Fox News but push a liberal agenda. Once again free enterprise and freedom of speech are in play with them as well.

One has the ability to pick and choose what media sources they choose to watch...freedom of choice comes into play.

I saw you mention this documentary in another thread and was gonna ask for a link, but didn't. Thanks for reading my mind and saving me some keystrokes. :)

I think it happens in countries like the US where many of the population believes in what it's told and what it sees on the TV and reads in papers. But in countries like the UK the population are to questioning and cynical to swallow what they are told. America needs more cynics.

Yeah that's why London looks like Pakistan. :disgust

Paul Markham 01-09-2008 04:54 AM

I must say when watching most US news channels is they are pretty biased, seeing this you see how far it goes on one station.

Shoehorn! 01-09-2008 05:02 AM

I've watched 15 minutes of it so far, pretty interesting. I'll watch the rest when I wake up.

Paul Markham 01-09-2008 05:13 AM

Just watched G. Bush chatting with a political interviewer Carl Cameron. They start chatting about about Cameron's wife working with Bush to get him re elected. Are they too stupid to realise this negates the interview or do they think the US electorate will swallow it? I was waiting for Cameron to kiss bush!!!

Watch the political interviews on UK TV to see interviewers with credibility. During the reign of Thatcher she tried to do the same, the news people stopped interviewing Conservative politicians.

What Fox is doing is blatant propaganda.

There is bias in all news organizations. Fox on the other hand is militant/fanatical in its bias.

Back in the days of Clinton, all news organizations were eating his infidelity up like it was crack, liberal and conservative. Bush scandals on Fox news are often downplayed and tons of experts are used to justify anything he says.

Case in point: Day Libby was pardoned I had left the tv on Fox news while i was working. I heard NOTHING..i mean NOTHING about it. I went to CNN.com and it was front page news.

AcidMax 01-09-2008 09:07 AM

Good find but I have to say while parts of it was interesting, I don't think this was any different than what they say Fox News apparently does. I saw a lot of people who were EX Fox News employees and well know liberals (Al Franken et al.).

While I know that Fox News is definitely right wing in their views I think other networks are liberal in theres. It just goes to show that you cannot believe everything you read/believe. You need to really learn how to read between the lines and form your own opinions.

Definitely an interesting program though. I do believe Murdoch owns way to much in the reporting and broadcasting industry.

tony286 01-09-2008 09:08 AM

I own it,its not very surprising.

It's kind of hard to talk about capitalism and free enterprise when you talk about the broadcasting industry. A regular Joe couldn't start his own TV network no matter how much money he has without kissing the right asses. The FCC controls everything still and there are a lot of dirty lobbying that goes on to make sure that the media and broadcasting industry is not open to everyone.

Nonetheless, I think you should be able to do and say what you want. I think they commit fraud by claiming to be "fair and balanced". If I came out with a product that claimed it was a "cure for cancer" but didn't, I'd have some problems. I guess my point is that if you want to be a conservative news station, great, just let everyone know who you are. Let people know that the guy interviewing the President happens to have his wife working for his campaign. Just as stock analysts must disclose what stocks they own, journalists should do the same. Don't hide behind a bullshit slogan and strong arm people who question you.

Franck, good video. I also suggest this which is similar.

Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land is a 2004 documentary which purports to show the influence of Israeli propaganda and PR on American media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The film was directed by Sut Jhally and Bathsheba Ratzkoff, and features, among others, Noam Chomsky, Robert Jensen, Hanan Ashrawi, and Robert Fisk.

the outrage is all over their "fair & balanced" headline. it's fine if they want to be the front for republican news and support, but don't claim to be fair and balanced when you have an agenda. they are directing people's opinions by presenting only one viewpoint under the cover that they are presenting the full picture, which they are not.

BV 01-10-2008 01:02 AM

I watched it this morning. For some reason this doesen't surprize me. The whole world is a fucked up.
