LAX to Costa Rica (SJO): Best airlines?

Can you go non-stop? Any other tips for the first time visitor?

taca.com

I think that is the airline I have almost always used..

I was just looking at them (via expedia). Is $354 RT fair?

Getting ready to book ours down there shortly too. Nothing direct for me. Have to go either Miami or Dallas first.

Ohh.. let me think..

that was in the hotel del ray.

Looks like taca is the way to go. Figures the first time I look at expedia their rates are higher and selections fewer.

I pretty much always fly Continental, although Spirit is a new budget airline that hubs through FLL and flies to both LAX and SJO so that might work.

I've flown Taca a couple times and found them to be kind of ghetto (huge lineups at the airport, slow service, lost luggage, etc). They are probably one of the last airlines that provides free alcoholic drinks on international flights in coach though :)

Their rates are pretty good, their hours of operation kind of suck though. Their rates seem to fluctuate daily.

Good call :thumbsup I go out of my way to do carry-on only because it alleviates so much hassle.

United and American Airlines also have non-stop flights from LAX to SJO, which I would recommend over TACA. The TACA check-in lineup at LAX has gotta be one of the most horrid experiences of my life, since it's full of people going to other Central American countries with ridiculous heaps of luggage full of stuff to bring back to their families. At least Costa Ricans had the good sense not to invade the USA and tried to make things fairly decent down here instead. :P

I thought someone would have bought your ticket for you since you are about to give them a few grand worth of publicity.

taca is the cheapest... and not a bad air;line
