Good STONER ROCK?

I don't know much about the genre, but I love me some Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss and the Hot Snakes.

Recommendations?

Dude, warts are good and all... but fucking A... I'm gunna burn you up the ED HALL albums and send them to you and you'll dig it.... they've put their catalog on the public download so it's available but man the shit;s excellent.. trust me.

All the shit coming out of Austin in the late 80's early 90's when they were trying to fend off the record company onslaught that was happening in Seattle was amazing.. Trance Syndicate records kept Austin on their own and kept them from being the next big MTV baby grunge sensation.. and that's an excellent thing.

Uhhmm... Stoner Rock is a genre, not just music that you think is for listening to stoned. I guess I know more than I thought.

Sublime = ska-punk.

Pink Floyd = Classic Rock

Queens Of the Stone Age = Stoner Rock

ok, looke dup the definition of stoner rock and found this lis tof bands on wikipedia.org

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...er_rock_groups

i've heard several and for the most part they all suck.

the 3 exceptions i found in the list according to my own personal tastes.

Corrosion of Conformity
Clutch
ZEKE

edit: i guess Monster Magnet had a few good songs too

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 01-20-2008 04:09 AM

My Album Recommendation

Kicked In The Teeth - ZEKE

Redmanthatcould 01-20-2008 04:22 AM

The most under-rated band of the '90s:

Cake

Edit:

After reading the description of "stoner rock" as a genre...and even though I personally don't like them...Mars Volta probably works

Cake sure did have their moments. Comfort Eagle was a prett good album, I used to LOVE short skirt/long jacket. They just played catchy tunes...

NP man, most people don't say "Stoner Rock" when talking about music unless they know about the genre. I got more too if you want. Hit me up on ICQ and I will see what I can send ya. 332064171

The first Witch EP is just damn amazing.

Mazuma Jason 04-18-2008 02:43 PM

A thread with Mars Volta & Clutch, so fantastic to see!

You should also check out a group called Black Mountain

skrinkladoo 04-18-2008 02:54 PM

No question - Kottonmouth Kings - has rap, rock, punk, ska, reggae ... real stoner shit.

marcop 04-18-2008 03:35 PM

I'm not sure exactly what Stoner Rock is, but when I used to smoke a lot of weed my favorite guy to listen to was Jimi Hendrix.

tyler (durden) 04-18-2008 03:40 PM

Mars Volta most definitely,

and i always gotta plug Rx Bandits. their shit is mind blowing when high, especially live:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=TpxwKDdj2ro (actual song starts at about the 2:00 mark)

I've seen them somewhere around 15 times live and just watching their videos on YouTube gives me goosebumps

harvey 04-18-2008 03:50 PM

QOTSA
Kyuss
Los Natas

or if you want to hear the originals, Hawkind and some Black Sabbath

and if you like Stoner Rock, maybe you'd try some Doom bands, esp Agro which is a mix between doom/stoner/skate rock and kicks ass :thumbsup

shannmarie 04-18-2008 04:01 PM

All Along The Watchtower, Dylan's original recording. ;)
