yes, a couple years ago had death in the family, shook me up. Decided to get out of Los Angeles for awhile, buy a home somewhere, and get my head right- get back to what I enjoy, spend time with family...

Here I am, 2+ years later,... I took a year or so away from GFY thats for sure... too much money to be made out there...

Jet - BANNED FOR LIFE 01-20-2008 06:48 AM

New Orleans, Louisiana

me and my romantic ideas of living down here and just spending my days writing prose during long rainy nights.

Fletch XXX 01-20-2008 06:58 AM

well i had to buy here first because thats where my family is, so if i want to own a home where my family is i didnt really have a choice *where*

but my second, I want in Northern California.

You'll be suprised how fast the first one takes your time with all the work that WILL come up .... from mere decorating to all out building, There is always something that needs to be done.

Congrats on the house, Enjoy the shit outta it :thumbsup

ServerGenius 01-20-2008 09:25 AM

I do, I own 2....actually 1 and half as the second is still being build 1400 miles
between them :thumbsup

slapass 01-20-2008 09:27 AM

well cool glad to see you back. On topic don't do it. Money wise it makes zero sense. I have a very weird life and it is really hard not to have to places to lay my head but $$$ wise the second place is a money pit.

ServerGenius 01-20-2008 09:33 AM

Oh house number will be sold when house number 2 is build....
Fuck bad weather and the money grabbing whores of the
Dutch government! The minute the last brick is laid my ass is
outta here again

Thanks CDA, PvDA and others for seriously fucking up a once really cool country

What's wrong with the middle class these days? They all want their big fancy houses and cars, and travel like rock stars.

The higher you fly, the harder you will fall, believe me :thumbsup

I came close to buying another house for rental in my neighborhood - even made an offer. Thankfully they turned it down. I enjoy buying/owning land more than the hassles of another house.

We'll see when it comes time to sell :thumbsup Right now I'm trying to buy a lot next to one I own. It's my lot, then their lot, then the phone company owns the next lot. So if I could buy the middle lot, someone could straddle the property line of the two lots and have an acre of land with no chance of someone building next to them (mine is a corner lot). But it's owned by a church someone donated it to and since they don't have to pay taxes on it, apparently they are in no hurry to sell property that's basically free for them. :disgust

I was just looking at the view from the lot next to mine in the winter - it's awesome. I'll sell it when I sell my house as I don't want anyone living next to me :winkwink:

I want to buy land and put vacation homes on them.. so I can visit when I want and rent it out the rest of the time.
