Why use GFY instead of contacting sponsors directly? I will tell you why!
 

I sent out an Email complaning of a problem back on Jan 10th.

I got a reply about it on Jan 22nd!

Had I just posted the problem here at GFY I would have had the problem fixed in about 10 minutes.


I also got an email from a sponsor saying their check was returned undeliverable. I sent them an email back in 2 minutes. Haven't heard from them since.

What are the odds that the check will be in my mailbox in 2 days if I post about it here? 100%

And if I don't? 0%...

That is why I post shit on GFY and don't even attempt to contact sponsors directly.

Whatever the situation - if it's between two individuals or an individual and business, it just seems more professional to hit peeps up on ICQ/email before you take something to the board in just about any regard.

If your email/ICQ isn't answered in a timely fashion, then - at that point - I think it's fine to go ahead and hit the boards, ya know... no reason to wait nearly 2 weeks.... and that's why I think they're here... but , well we're all human... and shit happens, and if you don't at least do someone the courtesy of hitting them up mono e mono before you shine something in the community spotlight... that says more about you than them, imho.

I had a few sponsors ask me to no post things on GFY.....if I did there would be some major dramaz.

The reality is that some sponsors are on the boards posting all day and don't check their support email.

Well mail is unreliable and sometime it doesnt arrive to inbox at all.That is why is better to have icq only for support or maybe support board.

Ask anyone dealing with us how long it takes to get a reply :)

They should always be contacted directly first, before anything appears on the forums.

But yeah, if they don't bother to reply, then of course it should be made more public. Then watch them reply right away... ;-)

This morning I noticed a problem with a sponsor's embedded Flash videos not playing in FireFox‏. I notified them and suggested a fix using their support email.

I wonder how long it will take for a response.

Hold up... So the Sponsor contact you about a bad address on the check, and you want them to respond back within minutes?

Webmasters posting on forums doesn't threaten most Programs. If you say anything to bad or wrong, it's your ass. And often the head rep or owner just posts telling you to contact them directly anyway, which ends it and puts you back in your place...

Most sponsors wouldn't respond to this.. First off the "support" person has no idea that they are broken, they just forward the email/problem to a tech. If the tech tests it and it works for him and/or he doesn't know how to make it work - it will stay broken.

Either way, the support person probably never gets a clear answer back so they can't answer you.

or... the problem was corrected and still the support person doesn't know and even if they did, the 10 day sit took the techs to figure out, the support person long forgot about you.

Don't forget to tell everyone what your program is asshole.

I agree fully V. I've had problems with numerous programs to whom i emailed and took as long as two weeks to have the issues resolved, some longer, or not at all. when i post i nice whining thread here on gfy it seems like they're right on top of sorting things straight within a couple hours to save face. why not throw your issue out there for everyone to see, fuck it. i usually try email first, but being as it is almost always useless i'm starting to toss it out here more and more.

is they blow you off for 12 days then by all means bring that shit on!!!!!!!!!

How was that being an asshole? The program contacted him first about a problem "HE HAD"... then he wants to bash them here? I'm the asshole? And if the other program corrected his issue, then I see no problem with 10 days, as I said, at least they responded - since most don't.

I run several programs, none of which you are a webmaster of, so no worries.

And they also aren't updating their sites... etc...

It takes a lifetime to builds ones reputation and only 69 keystrokes to ruin it.

They found out that my first ever check from them went to the wrong address and sent it to me reissued months later via 2 day FedEx. The check was only $35 but I think it demonstrates their willingness to make all of their affiliates happy. Not just the whales.

Also... Nasty Dollars answers my questions pretty much ASAP...

You're willing to withhold my money if I say move and forget to change my address before a payout ends? What if I miss the cutoff by a day and I am moving to another state and I have 100 things going on and the last thing on my mind is "fuck gotta change my addy info with TheDoc or he won't ever pay me. Everyone should be given the chance to be a professional businessman, to operate a professional company. Give them the chance privately. If no answer do whatever it takes.

I always use any means necessary to obtain a new address when I get checks mailed back as undeliverable. Makes accounting so much easier when there are no outstanding checks.

Of course I hold your money.. I may send it once more, but if it comes back I hold it. Now.. The fact the amount of people that have this issue is very rare, you know that.

Now when you come in and you change your address, bam you cycle back in and your checks go out.

Oh and I have contacted them, 3 of them.. To the point now that I have emailed them, it is the year end.. But again they don't respond. Everyone else, they email me or they change the address details.

You guys can try to dream up bs drama all day long.. I will play along.
