I'm here.

I'm no economist, but wars often boost the economy, especially the aftermath, eg. the Roaring 20s, the post WWII boom, etc..

Why do you blame just one man --when the US Congress holds the real
purse strings? The fact is domestic spending is crazy, expecially on pork barell projects and social services.

We pay for health care for illegal aliens when average Americans go without. Guess where all that money comes from.. high taxes, high taxes which destroy incentive and force investment offshore.

To me it looks like we are losing our competitiveness with our welfare economy, all the welfare fraud, our trade deficit with China, and all the high taxes.

Long term, a stable Iraq may push down the cost of oil.

You are correct, you are not an economist, just a misinformed individual. The economy is not boosted by a war.

Do you really believe that the immigrants are the ones that are causing the high medical costs?? Try blaming the welfare people in the US. they get medicaid and medicare and they never pay when they go to the ER. and they do that on a regular basis. Anyone who has worked in a hospital will tell you that the number of children that come in on FRIDAY afternoon triples or more, Sadly the parents push and insist that they child is kept over the weekend for observation. And then they refuse to pay saying that they got poor service.

All sorts of things like that.

Neither is CNN, Bill Marr, and all of the moronic liberals in our country. Don't you have to go save a rainforest?

Wars boost the economy, if you disagree, you either didn't do your homework, or are ignorant. Or in your case, a liberal douchebag.

All the welfare handouts doesn't equate to the bill of one month in Iraq. That is where our money is going. Billions upon billions every week. You can grab a Rush Limbaugh talking point, but it doesn't make it true.

I agree taxes are high, but they have to be the way the Republicans spent the last 6 years. I'd love to see spending curbed, taxes lowered, and our economy prospering. Unfortunately neither party is willing to do this. Democrats want to give handouts to Americans, Republicans want to give handouts to Arabs.

War isn't necessarily good for the economy, domestic spending is. When we're at war, domestic spending goes up many times. We need to buy planes, bombs, weapons, etc. This creates jobs and money for US workers. The same can be accomplished by building up the infrastructure. Difference is that Republicans don't get erections from buiding some bridges that don't collapse, they get it from sitting on their couch playing armchair General.

Welfare and welfare fraud is HUGE. It is one of the factors that is now bankrupting the state of Rhode Island, which is $600 million in the hole and maybe the first state to file court supervised bankruptcy.

Add in the the harm that it causes the taxpayers who are denied the use of their money to start businesses, add in the money that flees to less oppressive jurisdictions, and you see real harm to an economy.

Now, add up the 70 years of welfare and welfare fraud since 1935, and you have an economic catastrophe.

Long term a free Iraq makes excellent economic sense, it is like buying Alaska for pennies on the dollar.

Long term welfare makes as much sense as communism.

We spend $600 million in 2 days in Iraq. We could bail out the entire state for what it costs for 2 days in Iraq.

Welfare accounts for 1% of our budget. Are you telling me that this 1% is what is putting us into a recession? I agree that welfare fraud needs to be fought harder, but many of the people defrauding the system are the ones that are donating to your President and party.

Alaska cost $7.2 million dollars. Iraq is estimated to cost us $2 trillion dollars. We don't even get the deed to Iraq when we're done. As for economic sense, since we've "freed" the Iraqis, oil has gone up a ton, our dollar has gone to shit, and our economy is on the verge of a recession.

Finally someone with the balls to talk about this topic!! great thread!
I am tired of the working class people of this country supporting all the lazy mother fuckers with their hands out!! GO TO WORK!!! If mexicans want to come here fine, but they need to become citizens and pay taxes!!! Immigrants built this country but they GAVE SOMETHING BACK!!!!!! Very simple! If you have a garden, you take what you need to eat, but you also take care of it by watering it, weeding, etc. In this country, the guy who works his ass off on his garden has to come home from a hard day of work to find an empty, trash filled, destroyed garden and see his next door neighbor, who has no job sitting his fat ass on the porch eating the last tomato and if the gardner beats his ass, HE gets in trouble!:mad::mad:

All welfare and food stamp fraud is still less than the corporate welfare that is given to business.

You said it rather casually when in fact McCain's plane was shot down over North Vietnam, ejecting he fractured both arms and a leg, the troops capturing him beat him, shattered a shoulder with a rifle butt, bayoneted him in his stomach and foot. He was a pow for years.

That's a little more than "winning a purple heart"

My bad!!! I mis-understood your reply! When you said he did more than earn a purple heart I thought you meant he also has a political career! Sorry! Bottom line is I am a fan of McCain! I know his Vietnam story and that is one of the main reasons I support him for President!!!! We need a real man who actually served his country!!! Not like Bush who hid behind his mommies skirt!!! We are at war and someone who knows what that actually means is more qualified to handle the situation!!! sorry for my sarcastic reply!!! that's the problem here sometimes, you can't get all your thoughts and ideas across in a paragraph!:error
